Something I'm waiting on the release to buy and listen, but I did here the new single called Paradise Circus on a show. Really liked the sound a lot. Sounded like they were really going back in time to their older sound.

Jeez, the youtube date for when this song was put up says, "4 weeks ago". How long has this been leaked? >< Crazy.

Just wondering if anyone else has checked out this artist yet? I know Lee has because he commented on them in the 'last album you downloaded' tread. I cannot get enough of this song, just so perfect, so relaxing, so beautiful, and just so damn good.

I stumbled across this trip hop group out of Glasgow. I haven't heard trip-hop this... dark... I really don't know any other way to describe it, but holy crap is this song ever captivating.

great tracks Pete, both are new to me. just my style :D

here some of my recent discoveries - i'm working hard to keep the definition of triphop very fuzzy!

Just for the record, DJ Shadow absolutely hates being labelled as trip-hop! Personally I agree though that his stuff is acceptable to throw into the debate, the term has become a bit of a discredited label I suppose but yeah, that first LP at the very least was strongly associated with the genre at the time.

Anyone heard anything on Manchester's Grand Central label? Again not strictly trip-hop maybe but we're talking downbeat electronica, straight hip-hop at times, often a fusion of those with funk/Northern Soul....you know, it's of that ouevre. The label went under in the mid 2000s sadly but left a great legacy. These are all well worth a look:

This is maybe the best starting point, the first 'Central Heating' compilation LP from their very early period. Terrific stuff. This is the original LP cover, the reissue has a different one I believe:

Because he's not trip hop.

Arms & Sleepers are a new favorite band are tagged as Trip Hop.. is it true Trip Hop? Couldn't tell you! But I love it. I've never heard anything like them

Arms & Sleepers is great, but i'm not sure i'd call them trip hop.
they remind me a bit of Múm...

been on a roll today finding new stuff. all the following have female vocalists, and range across the spectrum of trip hop. if you dig Portishead, be sure to check out the last two on the list.
