I am not hugely into dance music, but I have always had a soft spot for the Chemical Brothers - there's always been an atmosphere to their albums that just clicks perfectly well for me - plus I love some of the sounds they use in their vocal tracks as well as their instrumentals - they quite consistently turn in great albums from start to finish with very few "dud" tracks in my humble opinion.

I can't understand why their last album was so bad. A major letdown. I was hoping a couple of listens at a later date might have swayed me but it just doesn't grab me at all.

Not very impressed. They're definitely on a downward spiral creatively.

I must admit to not bothering with their most recent release... I saw the Salmon Dance video on TV and it looked kinda, how do you say it? Childish? The whole song didn't reek of the joyous creativity of such albums as Dig Your Own Hole or Surrender.... a real bloody shame actually, because the afformentioned albums are darn good, and still regular listens for me...

Indeed Cowgirl does. Hands down.

I heard of this band before. Which album should I start with?

Yeah, none of their later albums have come close to the first three in creativity, and it is quite disappointing.

I enjoy Push the Button a fair amount, but Galvanize is not one of my favorites from it (even if it might be fun in a party setting). What about songs like "Hold Tight London" and "Close Your Eyes" though? I thought those came really close to achieving that great dreamy vibe they had on parts of Surrender!

Not that you're still waiting for an answer to this, lol, but definitely start with Dig Your Own Hole. That's the kind of album that converts people to electronica.
