what nothing about Gangnam Style

I've been hearing this song by PSY everywhere. I don't even really like house music but it's grown on me.

Howard the Duck 09-21-2012 09:13 PM

it's not "house"

it's what we Malaysians call "Feng tau" techno

feng tau referring to Ecstasy - flinging your head

phoenix17 09-22-2012 02:31 AM

It's really catchy within the Western society. I see this may become the macarena of the 21st century.

Howard the Duck 09-22-2012 02:58 AM

^^it's really rather annoying though I don't mind hearing it once in a while

just not every ****ing day

derek 09-22-2012 09:19 PM

I think this song of his is better than Gangnam style...

Seo Woo version(cute Korean actress)

It furthers the theory that everything is funnier when an Asian does it.

Extremely catchy song; same with the music video.

If you don't like this song/video you're bad and you should feel bad.

When you die, the net increase of fun is going to go up in your country 2 percentage points.

Now I have. But the song still hasn't improved any.

You know in Christmas Express when the children grow up and they can't hear the bell anymore because they don't believe in Christmas?

The grown-ups are you people, and the bell is gangnam style. And Christmas is fun.

FRUIT GIRL 10-12-2012 05:58 AM

They really need to do a mashup of this, putting on the ritz and the macarena all into one. Then line them all up and do death by firing squad while they play it.

There's more than one version of it and not all of them are as annoying. Have you listened to the female version by chance? By hyung?

there're some Malaysian parodies of it I find funny

funniest one I heard so far is Hitler's speech from Der Untergang set to it

steve0211 10-21-2012 05:47 AM

Just recently heard the KPop term. Reminds me of some 80s music.

and yes, the PSY vids I have seen are awesome to watch

My brother played Gangnam for her. She got scared and freaked out. Had literally no idea it was in Korean until near the end of the vid I showed her.

Some dude at my church played the song after worship. Haha. This girl freaked out. Called it offensive. Keep that stuff out of the church. Said it was distasteful.

Honestly, I think it's genius. It shows the iGeneration will bop to anything and everything if it is promoted. Everyone seems to think it's cool because everyone else thinks its cool.

I think it's like Steven Colbert. People act like he's wayyy edgier/funnier than he is because everyone else thinks he's funny. Guy is an a-hole, just like Gangnam.

I saw a really cool parody made near the Rose Bowl. Cool because I live near it.

I wish I could explain my mom's reaction. Personally insulted that it was Korean. She thinks everything Korean is good. Now she is pretty traumatized. Has to rethink everything.

My first impression is that you aren't a very intelligent person.

Gangnam Style makes me sad.
No, not because it has touching lyrics. No, not because it has melodic musicianship.
IT FLIPPING SUCKS. Why can't people at least have a listen to some good music? The Strokes? Dashboard Confessional? Elvis Costello?
Gangnam Style is popular and overplayed even though there's nothing good about it. People listen to music that is popular, music that everyone else listen to, but how do bad music even get popular in the first place?

You can ask the Justin Bieber fans the same thing...or ask Jay Z fans the same thing...

Btw, 715 million hits and counting!....that billion is coming soon!

Newkie 11-13-2012 03:01 PM

Hmm, I only really thought it was good with the Video, his moves are quality, as is the other ahem, talent, he has on offer, but the song itself?...

The Bullet 11-13-2012 04:38 PM

You guys realize the song is a satire, right? Look it up. Gangnam is a rich district in South Korea where a lot of people wish they could live and "Gangnam Style" basically means "Korean Swag," so PSY shot a video with as much anti-swagger as possible, with scenery that doesn't look like Gangnam, to a song about people who are completely normal during the day but act cool at night.

Song isn't a masterpiece, but it's still pretty danceable the video is funny. I respect it for what it is, and PSY is clearly talented as a performer.

Ran into this on youtube. Apparently, he was skinny a decade ago and, more importantly, made better music. Still havn't found a translation for this, but I was pleasantly surprised by the flow here.

JustJunMC 11-13-2012 05:16 PM

Its hands down the most popular electronic rap/hip hop song ever

PSy basically pimp slapped Tiesto and all those other people:laughing:

Post a video of you dancing to Dashboard Confessional.

Not a big fan, but the video is quite funny.

FETCHER. 11-14-2012 07:47 AM

Lets get one thing straight, this song is not electronica? How can you even compare that song to mainstream electronica?

The Batlord 11-14-2012 09:09 AM

I don't get why people get bothered by pop music on Top 40 radio. What do you think they're gonna play on there? It's just the way the world works that record companies have got our number and know how to manipulate the majority of music listeners. It's just reality, and getting upset about it is just goofy. If you don't like ****ty pop music, then don't listen to the radio or watch Entertainment Tonight. It's what the internet is for.

Rjinn 11-14-2012 09:10 AM

If I ever hear this in a club I don't think ecstasy will even cut it.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-14-2012 09:12 AM

It'll be gone soon anyway.
The only way I can see this bothering people is if they're insecure about their own tastes.

Someone showed it to me once, my reaction was 'Well that was pretty funny' and I've not seen it since.

I want to know what all these people who feels like they're being bombarded by it are actually doing to hear it so often.

Really? So ecstasy won't make a room full of people doing the goofiest dance since The Macarena the greatest thing ever?
