The Grime thread

This is a thread for Grime. Recommendations, vocals, instrumentals, sets, mixes, whatever. (If you're not familiar with it, it's a UK electronic genre taking it's main influences from Hip-Hop and it's predecessor UK Garage plus a few others bits here and there. It's main characteristics are energy and aggression, see here):

Lethal Bizzle - Forward - YouTube

RAPID from Ruff Sqwad's 'GO' MUSIC VIDEO!!! - YouTube

Spooky -- Spartan - YouTube

I am not sure if anybody at all on here likes Grime so I may be talking to myself in this thread. However I will keep this updated with all the best releases, instrumental and vocal, for the coming year, starting with this single from Grime legend and ex Roll Deep member, Trim, 'Sat Nav Walking':

Wiley taking his 2012 work rate into 2013, two tracks already this year, the hook needed more work but Wiley's verses are as good as they've ever been:

JME + WILEY - "BANGER" - YouTube

A return to his 90's Jungle roots on his latest 'step':

Wiley - Step 19 Freestyle (Produced By Jo) *FREE DL!* - YouTube

One of my favourite Grime tracks:

Ah, apologies, I did do a search as well before I posted this thread. Maybe merge threads?

Footsie's instrumental CD finally out on February 11th:

Footsie - King Original Vol. 1 (Instrumentals 2004 - 2006) [Braindead Entertainment]

Full of bangers from 2004-2006. An absolute classic. Standout tracks - Hit It, It'z War, Arnie, Shower Hour and Scarz Remix. Footsie's beats are always so dark:

Which one did you get? His albums are divided between his pop career and his Grime music.

Treddin' On Thin Ice
2nd Phaze
Race Against Time
Playtime is Over
Grime Wave

Are his Grime albums and all worth a listen definitely (PM me if you want them). Avoid:

See Clear Now
Evolve or Be Extinct
The Ascent

Unless you like his pop stuff. 100% Publishing was kinda in the middle of the two.

Actually just realised if you liked those tracks I posted definitely don't bother with his pop stuff.

Westwood - Wiley epic freestyle 1Xtra - YouTube

Wiley's flow is so crispy.

Most eagerly awaited Grime CD ever is finally confirmed for a December 24th release after 4 years of delays.

Up in Smoke
Street Crime UK was definitely a classic, very excited for this. This is going to be the best thing released this year.

djchameleon 12-01-2013 01:31 PM

Booo Chipmunk.

He needs to just quit already.

Cuthbert 12-01-2013 01:58 PM

Agreed, he used to be my favourite MC at one point. Done nothing decent in 6 years.

Cuthbert 12-03-2013 01:26 PM

Big H - LimeLite - Fire & Smoke - YouTube

LimeLite track. Mentions Skepta, Kano, Chip & Wiley but this is not a war dub.

SeanIsElectric 12-03-2013 01:37 PM

I can't post you any links yet man but check these tracks. Manchester home grown talent.

Virus Syndicate - Taxman
Urban Knights - Swan Lake
Skittles - Blair <---------BIG!
Meany ft Oneda - Hometown

Jun Tzu is another sick guy, been in Manchester but ill as ****.

Jun Tzu - Born In Belfast <-----TOP TRACK, TOP VIDEO

You gota do the work, but you wont be disappointed. That Jun Tzu track is too hard though!

SeanIsElectric 12-03-2013 01:41 PM

I gota say as well though. This thread should be in Rap/Hip Hop section. Ain't no UK grime artist classing themselves as Electronica. Grime is UK Hip Hop, through and through.

Cuthbert 12-03-2013 01:46 PM

Yeah Virus Syndicate are good, Slow Down >>>. Do you rate Blizzard? Used to rate Shifty as well but he's fell off badly.

Don't like that Skittles track, don't like it when Grime MC's talk politics, most of them are thick and should stay in their comfort zone talking about drugs and guns.

Na Grime is a form of Dance music that started off in raves. UK Hip-Hop is people Jehst, Klashnekoff and those guys.

SeanIsElectric 12-05-2013 01:45 PM

where are you from?

Cuthbert 12-05-2013 10:18 PM

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/fi...ke/id769220912

Previews are now on iTunes for Fire & Smoke. I can only pick out 3 Grime tracks, as expected this is more like greazy Hip-Hop/Trap. However I did expect some shots at other MC's, can't hear any on the previews other than LimeLite

Hopefully that Manc guy comes back and posts. Your boy is going in, come a long way.

Look who's come crawling back.

This is that shit I do want to hear though. Chip is a good MC.

Cuthbert 03-28-2015 09:35 AM

Updating thread cos there's been a lot of hype past couple of weeks.

Chipmunk is back on Grime, he and Big Narstie started bitching to each other in interviews and Chip made a diss track for a few MC's after that, produced by Rapid of Ruff Sqwad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDHXvyk4yK0

Shots fired at Devilman. Devilman fired back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLFYQMUWOXQ

Skepta fires back at Devilman and goes in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkmmQMF0cZA

Devilman replies within 24 hours and goes in.

These two have been going at each other for about ten years now. This is entertaining

Qwerty you ever heard many sets?

The best grime is on sets imo. F Radio is on YouTube, classic stuff.

https://youtu.be/qReDbo2fX4Q

16 year old Devlin, Chipmunk and Griminal, Dot Rotten and P Money turn up about halfway through, I've got volume 3 on a disc somewhere in full quality.

Cuthbert 07-22-2017 10:04 AM

There was a Logan set in 2009 for P Money's release, it had P, Blacks, Jendor, Trim, Skepta, Jammer, J2K on it. One of the best ones from that era.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-22-2017 10:14 AM

a little bit here and there but haven't dug too deeply into them. will do so.

Cuthbert 07-22-2017 10:25 AM

Mate you are missing out. When I was fully into it 95% of what I was listening to was sets.

Oriphiel 07-22-2017 11:32 AM

Qwertyy and Man Like Monkey are partners in Grime.

Cuthbert 07-22-2017 01:10 PM

We're on dis ting.

Cuthbert 07-31-2017 10:42 AM

Been listening to Skepta's first album, I fanboyed it in the MySpace days and didn't really bother with it much after that, but it's really good.

Check some of the tracks guise:

Cuthbert 08-01-2017 01:16 PM

Great track.

Sonar 08-09-2017 03:05 AM

I dig the earlier Skepta's stuff. it's a pity he seems to be moving away from classic grime lately. Like, this one sounds more like a hip-hop song:

Cuthbert 08-09-2017 09:14 AM

A bit yeah, that tune is so sick though.
