Electronic Album Survivor

Well firstly, I should know if this would have enough participation so I don't waste my time typing a bunch of stuff

Well, categories wouldn't be that much of a bitch, these are my main area of expertise but others can help too with different ones they like

Psytrance/psybient
IDM
Industrial hardcore
Breakcore
Acid house/techno
Power noise

Blank. 12-15-2016 05:58 PM

I don't really know electronic music very well so if you compile a list I'll listen and vote. I'd like to have a stronger education in this genre. a survivor thread would be great.

Mondo Bungle 12-15-2016 08:25 PM

What things do you know now

Frankly, I know I don't like dubstep. That's it.

Mondo Bungle 12-15-2016 08:34 PM

Super loud and ridiculous stuff like Excision?

what about this

Sonar 12-16-2016 12:27 PM

Just speaking of nice dubstep ^^

Mondo Bungle 12-19-2016 01:35 AM

Electroballs

Mondo Bungle 12-19-2016 07:42 PM

At least I was able to gather that this won't happen before typing possible battles

Tristan_Geoff 12-19-2016 07:55 PM

I would do it.

Mondo Bungle 12-19-2016 08:25 PM

I thought I had posted whoops

djchameleon 12-21-2016 04:45 AM

Yeah it would only be four or five of us. What is your threshold for starting it? How many would you like participating. Bear in mind how many actual regulars we do have.

So bear is the correct spelling in the phrasal verbs bear down, bear out, and bear up. It’s also the correct word in the phrases bear down on, bear fruit, bear in mind, and bring to bear and in the common phrases grin and bear it and bear the brunt of. Bare wouldn’t make sense in any of these phrases or expressions.

I know. Still.

Thelonious Monkey 12-23-2016 12:04 AM

I'll take part.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-23-2016 03:55 PM

i would try my hardest to keep up, no promises though.

Mondo Bungle 12-23-2016 06:19 PM

There's a metric asston of different subgenres that I dunno very well so if there's experts on any given genre that isn't participating then I don't think there'd be that many.

And I dunno what you mean about the threshold. Like, take the rock survivor and replace the albums and categories with electronic ones. The rock one is a smash hit and still goes indefinitely.

Thelonious Monkey 12-23-2016 06:23 PM

Where's Aux-In when you need him?

Tristan_Geoff 12-23-2016 10:08 PM

****, do I even listen to enough electronic to even try and make a list? I'll attempt certainly...

Tristan_Geoff 12-23-2016 10:09 PM

Container - LP needs to be in Power Noise tho

djchameleon 12-24-2016 04:31 AM

My areas of expertise are in

I've never paid attention to the other album survivor threads.

8.
9.
10.

ambient (just as a generalization?):

1. Biosphere - Substrata
2. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (or Volume II if we're going more ambient)

6. Porter Ricks - Biokinetics
7. Monolake - Hongkong
8. Woob - Woob 1194

Oh. Well we just vote off a few artists every few days. The OP will update accordingly with which bands are voted out and how many to vote out in the new round, until eventually all are voted out except one. And then, theoretically, at the end of all the lists they all go up against each other until the best album wins.

This is the only that I'm sure I'll participate in. Needs some Popul Vuh.

Mondo Bungle 12-28-2016 03:54 PM

what if I did that old electronic krautrock for a batlle

Don't see why not. We can get as complex as we want. No rules here.

Mondo Bungle 12-28-2016 04:26 PM

not really all krautrock though. classics

1. Kraftwerk - Autobahn
2. Popol Vuh - In den Gärten Pharaos
3. Harmonia - Deluxe
4. Silver Apples - Silver Apples
5. The United States of America - The United States of America
6. Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure
7. Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene
8. Suicide - Suicide
9. The Residents - Duck Stab
10. Ashra - New Age of Earth

Frownland 12-28-2016 04:28 PM

I feel like we could tighten that up or make it into two or more different lists. Lots of very different things on there imo. Suicide can go on a synth punk list, for example. Not to mention, no Cluster.

Mondo Bungle 12-28-2016 04:31 PM

well, "classic electronic albums" covers a lot of ground

pioneers and the like

Frownland 12-28-2016 04:32 PM

I think it borders on being too ambiguous.

Mondo Bungle 12-28-2016 04:44 PM

sure does, that's why I made it
