I ail got my hands on all the analord stuff recently and I have to say there are some pure analog gems on there. Unfortunately this being AFX I cant remember any track titles. Tracks like RX554$y3_11"! are not conducive to easy brain access

EQUALS:

WHICH IS:

Am I the only person who's noticed this? my mom was listening to Cage The Elephant (ew) in the car, and it sounds like it borrowed heavily from Fingerbib in the intro.

They sound really similar. So not cool how Cage the Elephant stole another influence. Especially coming from one of my favorite Aphex Twin tracks.

yes... let's all look down on the simple plebeians who've now heard some of the purest music only our refined ears have been capable of grasping. let us hope that no other upcoming pedantic musicians borrow from visionaries and reapply their glory in a way that would sing to the ears of the masses in turn exposing some sleeping listeners to new directions of sound and music.

no... we should keep crawling up our own pretentious buttholes instead.

and people wonder why he stopped releasing new stuff...

I would say Druk Qs is Aphex's best album. Come to daddy is good too. Some people would argue these albums are too commercial but I don't agree. I think his other albums are OK but theyre a bit boring. If youve never heard vordhosbn, come to daddy, film, fenix funk five, **** ver 10, taking control, ziggomatic 14, zeros and ones (remix), spotlight (remix) you should check these tracks out...

That may or may not be true depending on how you look at it (I would say not). But I wonder when people claim things like this whether they have actually heard everything that came before or if they are just relaying received wisdom. Personally I'm one of those who didn't like 85-92 when I heard it, he may have done some very good stuff elsewhere but I don't get why that album is so acclaimed by critics.

No-one was implying that, what people were implying is that it's not cool that someone effectively stole some of Aphex's music, although I can't really hear too much of a similarity.

Also, Ambient Works 85-92 would be so much better if it had been produced better. Xtal is far too crackly for my liking. He should remaster the whole album.

Some of the tracks on Selected Ambient Works 85-92 were mastered from cassettes that he had. There were remasters in 2006 and 2008 with apparently cleaner sound but there's only so much that can be done when the source tapes are so limited.
