I don't understand the hate on Nickelback. I mean, some people like them, some dislike them. Is that what its like with almost everything? They make music, they have fans. Why the hate?

I think the majority of the hate stems from the fact that they've garnered massive success by milking a manufactured formula.

Traditionally rock music is about youth rebellion, it's when a young person gets their first taste of not just independent cultural thought, but also the ability to help shape that culture. With Nickelback that aspect is removed, there's nothing being said that's worth hearing under the surface of their songs. It's fine for a passive listener who just wants a common background tune with other passive listeners, but ultimately their music is hollow. It's like grunge for people in denial of the fact that the 90s were 2 decades ago.

They opened for the Stones??? Oh man. My dad said he saw the Stones in 1973 while he was in Montreal, and Stevie Wonder opened for them. What the hell happened since then? lol
