It's good to have aspirations.

I'd love to get a degree in some fancy artsy kinda thing, but I gotta go with what pays the bills.
Life isn't free, regardless of whether you enjoy it or not.
I just don't want to struggle, and I don't want my children to struggle. I want to make a good life for myself and my children (when I have some... I'm taking applications, btw.), and I don't think I'll be able to do that without a solid career plan.

Very true, indeed!

And it just so happens that pretty much the only thing you can do with an artsy degree is to go into teaching... and luckily I'm cool with that.

The years have left me feeling pretty apathetic towards the whole education thing. I'm really only back to fulfill a promise I made to my mum that I'd actually go.

I just feel I can do whatever I want after I have an education.

I don't need to stay with what I studied, but at least I can get where I want to get in life.

yeah, this year seems to be the most trying so far. the workload is insane, barely any time for myself, and that's if i'm procrastinating. also, the craft of my work (neatness/detail in your drawings and models) is barely up to par with the rest of my class, and in this field that means ALOT. i'm trying to fix that, but it seems that i can't no matter how much i tried **** always got cut wrong or smudged and i don't realize it until the last second and my professor tears me up for it. :(

to be honest there's been quite many a time i've thought of dropping out or at least switching majors. really the only reason i chose to do this was to have a creative outlet(music was my first choice for schooling but my parents wouldn't have it. i can understand what they mean, considering how it's not the most viable for a steady life), but i'm really regretting it these days.

idk, i talked to my parents about it, they're like "hey, try to finish this semester at least and pick something that won't be as demanding". i'm glad they understand, but at this point i don't even know if i'll make it to the end of the semester.

sorry if i wasted your time with reading this, i just wanted to let it out, you know?

I can empathise with architects regarding their workload... they seem to spend endless amounts of time in the studio toiling away at projects. One of my friends studies architecture and even in first year, all-nighters spent doing assignments were pretty much mandatory in order to stay afloat... and it's not because she's disorganised or spends an inordinate amount of time procrastinating either. The workload is just stupid.
