A little gem I discovered a while ago searching through my grandmothers dictionary of unusual words:

quidnunc [kwid-nuhngk]
–noun
a person who is eager to know the latest news and gossip; a gossip or busybody.

One of my faves. Pairs well with a dry cynicism.
