Why thank you Conan. I feel very appreciated here, unlike in many other forums where I am shunned as a "trivial rabblerouser"

:P

NOTE: Please feel free to "think out loud" on here to get inputs from other forum members. I can't guarantee I will help you guys out with hints, but I want to see what conclusions you come up with.

I wonder if it's someone involved in a Live Green Day album? Can't be a title. Hmmm..

Well, lesse. In the spirit of thinking out loud...

"Bullet in a Bible" is a live Green Day album, so I'm going to guess the murder weapon was a gun. As far as Long Island bands with a paranormal fetish, BOC leaps to mind, although I'm not sure that's who you were going for or what to make of it if it is. The british heavy metal bit is also a bit vague as yet--assuming we're just dealing with the band name directly as the clue, maybe Saxon if it's one of the people involved.

The Lyle Lovett one has me stymied, though.

Well you got the BOC right and the "bullet in a bible" is not only in reference to the murder weapon, but also gives hints to who got killed. Think of New Wave of British Heavy Metal Bands with names that have to do with a bible...

I'm spoonfeeding you guys on this one because it's the first mystery.

Think of the connection between the "Blue Oyster CULT" and "Bullet in a BIBLE" and extrapolate from there.

OK, so we're not dealing with a strictly one-to-one relationship between clues and bits of information. That's helpful to know. I'm getting more impressed by how thought out this is.

One can assume that you're referring to Judas Priest then (although Satan and a couple others might also apply, JP seems the most obvious). And I'm guessing you're referring to "Church" by ol' Lyle, yes?

So a cult member shot (and possibly ate) a priest in a church? Maybe?
