I love all animals but dogs seem to take to me better than any other domestic pet, I've never had a cat of my own though so I don't know what it would be like. I think I kinda understand dogs more than I do cats, I can honestly say my dog Violet lives up the reputation of being man's best friend. We have some sort of weird bond in which I understand her and she seems to understand me, I've never had this with any other dog (I've had around 3 dogs in my life) but I think that's to do with me being too young to be my previous dog's master.

I love doggies, I can honestly say there is no dog I've come across so far that has intimidated me, including rottweilers, pitbulls (big softies at heart really but they're illegal over here) and all various breeds of "bad" dogs. I say "bad" because I don't believe any dog is bad unless they've been brought up that way.

I think it has more to do with different dogs having different personalities and you do create strong bonds with individual animals more so than others.

For example, I have three cats and my strongest bond is with Tails. I think it has more to do with me being all she's ever known since I had her when she was a baby kitten and had to feed her with a bottle. She's the most loyal of my cats and will always come when I call her regardless of if she feels like it or not.

KD I've only had for a year or so but she's super affectionate towards me quite often always rubbing up against me and feels super needy similar to a dog and it just bugs the **** out of me. I sometimes have to kick her away.

Porque, KD's son has this weird love/hate relationship with me. He's the most vocal but every time I pass him and he meows at me for attention when I lean down to pet him he gets all defensive like he's not sure what I'm going to do to him. He's the ultimate scaredy cat. I thought maybe it was something I was doing to him and have tried to comfort him all the time when I see him so he isn't so scared but good grief nothing works. He always meows when I walk pass him for attention but when I go to give it to him he can't decide if he wants me to pet him or run away. 50 percent of the time he'll run away.

I have never even met a mean pitbull, if a dog is mean though the fault lies with the owners. Also my dog is part rottweiler, I've never in my life met a nicer dog even if she is dumb as a brick

One of my best friends has a very rotund pitbull named Lucy who used to like to sit on me whenever I came over, like she was a lap dog.

It's ****ty over here we have a really corrupt person who heads Animal Control and he murders pitbulls on the regular and any dog who barks at him. It's really messed up.

I am so excited to be working at the shelter this month with their cats, and to foster one in my home.

Ja, rotties and pits are sweethearts if you don't raise them like an *******.

As with a lot of people, I love both of these pets. Right now I've two pups and a kitty, all three of which are close to me, but I connect more with my dogs. In my house I look after the dogs the most in that I feed, walk, and play with them daily, so they have an unconditional love for me that's easy to reciprocate. Dogs have been a part of my life as far back as I remember. I mean that literally since my first memory was getting my dog Jasmin for my second birthday.

cat people seem more reclusive to me

one of my clients has 2 cats and 2 dogs. 2 of the most beautiful dogs ive ever seen. one is a st bernard mixed with a....pitbull i think?? it has such an interesting look. and the other is a female german shepherd.

my parents just got a 3rd dog. i encouraged them because since our other dog died 2 years ago their other 2 dogs kind of shut down. they dont want to play as much and just seem like they never wanna do anything and they arent old enough to just wana lay around constantly. so they got a blakc lab and its awesome. reminds me of bein young and my grandma havin a black lab i always played with.

Aww yeah I know, dogs who are aggressive are usually mistreated and haven't been socialised much through their life (which can lead them to attack other dogs because they don't know how to react). My friend has a big ass rottweiler and he is a big bit of a boy, he ofcourse as an intimidating look because his head is bigger than any rott I've seen but he's the biggest baby he actually pisses when he see's me he gets that excited haha!

Is there nothing you can do to like stop this guy? That's completely unfair for him to tar all barking dogs with one brush. Hell I can't get Violet to shut up sometimes when she's out walking or hears a noise around the house. I ****ing hate ignorant pigs like that. He's probably on a power trip and simply doesn't like the breed. Arsehole.

That's awesome Ped, I wish I could do something like this, it would be so rewarding but with my dog around I would be scared the cats would bully her or something haha. She's really a doormat to pretty much all other animals haha.

Yeah it's usually the kind of people that want to own pitballs for a kind of image are dickheads and they don't look after the dogs properly which makes them aggressive :( It's sad.

Ultimately all dogs are instinctive animals who could lash out at certain events and react to certain things, responsible pet ownership is what it is all about.

I believe that people (in general) tend to prefer a pooch to a kitten. There are very few of them who are highly keen on cats but dislike dogs. Personally, I really like both; got hold of a street cat 13 years ago when he was tiny and now he's still young and undoubtely one of the happiest creatures on Earth. No particular difference in behaviour in my opinion...

I used to volunteer at a shelter (but I only worked with dogs because I'm allergic to cats) and I fostered one in my home... I ended up loving him so much that I adopted him. So be warned... by the end of your working shelter stint you will likely have a new pet! :)
