Default Simulacra, mirages and chimera

The Real Jesus.

Tsunami cloud.

Meet the chairman.

4-eared cat.

No one is sure if this giant Indian head seen from satellite is a simulacra or a man-made structure. Each option seems too incredible to believe.

Let's see Pink Floyd top that!

Ancient burial ground? No. Snapdragon seed cases.

In the tradition of the great surrealist, Rene Magritte, this is not a cat. In fact, it's not even a living thing (psst! It's a charred tree stump).

In 1952, a fiery object fell from the sky over Flatwoods, WVA and landed in a farmer's field. A woman, her sons and several other boys went to investigate and encountered what they described as a 10-foot tall thing with a round head, glowing round eyes, a cowl shaped like an inverted heart or Ace of spades behind the head and a long, green skirt pleated with many folds. It glided towards them squirting some noxious-smelling gas. Everyone screamed and ran off. The case made the headlines and many fanciful portraits were drawn of this monster. The most impressive drawing, though, is that of 11 yo witness, Fred May. Instead of drawing some Hollywood-style creature with fangs and bloodshot eyes shooting out death rays that you would expect a young boy to do, he instead drew this simple picture that seems to simply say, "This is what I saw." And doesn't care whether you believe it or not. The fact that it's unimpressive is what I find so impressive about it.

Best damn case of camouflage I've ever seen.
