Create the Subgenre!
 

A while ago I jokingly coined the term "Crooncore" for your oldie singers such as Bing Crosby, Dean Martin etc, while Batty rather unkindly (who said accurately??) :yikes: described Frownland's music as Pisscore. ;)

But I know a lot of you have, or know of, music out there that defies categorisation. So post something you think there is no subgenre for, and let's see if we can invent one. For fun only of course.

I'd love to hear some creative genre names for the music of gravel-throated troubadour, Tom Waits.

Whiskeycore? Truthcore? Storycore? Waitscore?

If you want. Or you can think up something totally else. Depends on what's being listened to. Of which nobody has posted anything yet.

Waits' song and album titles might work as a genre name - I'm digging "Cemetery Polka" to describe his sound.

Also curious what we could call the art college music scene of the late 1980s. Most of it was filed under post-punk or art rock - everything from Remain in Light to the quirky fast-forward music videos of Dial-a-Song-era TMBG. I'd love to hear a more inventive name for the age of misfit rock.

Bands like Devo and They Might be giants could fall into this subgenre. Polysics too.

Electronic Doom/Stoner Metal could go as Drum 'n' Bake.

Accordion based alternative pop with retarded, raspy, Johnny Winter style vocals.

Troubacore.

U2's most recent album could be described as Applecore.

Of course the Beatles invented that genre.

Grindcore Bluegrass—basically what I want to hear is grindcore with bluegrass style banjo and fiddle. Maybe a sprinkling of bluegrass vocals too.

Yeah, this is the closest thing I've been able to find, and it sounds like the worst Emmure song ever recorded.

Grindgrass is the hybrid that incorporates stoner metal too.

Bluecore just sounds like another terrible metalcore sub-subgenre.

I'd like a small chamber orchestra to play Gorguts' Obscura.
I suppose it'll just sound like AvantProg though.

It sounds like it would be metalcore mixed with the cheesiest electric blooz of all time.

I'm still holding out for an entirely acoustic grind record.
