I'm too lazy for song samples and remembering songs cause I'm drunk and ****, but mainly the blues **** was for their first album, and the second to an extent.

One of the absolute beauties of Zep. Seeing how they'd pull of those amazingly produced album tracks live. There's only one song that a band member totally vetoed and it was John Paul Jones and In The Light. He just couldn't get his synth to perform reliably night after night at the time.

The ****ing jamming on this is what made Zep stand out from their peers back then. Page digs deep and really wails despite his ailments.

Once the keyboard solo starts skip ahead to the 8:00 minute mark when the fireworks really begin.

Skip ahead to the 8:00 minute mark, close your eyes, turn it up loud, and just listen for a few minutes. Do me that favor.

Frownland 02-03-2017 02:47 PM

I can't right now but I wouldn't anyway so it's all cool.

My guess is that rock musicians focusing on technical ability gives people a good reason to bother with it

I don't know. I've come around to some prog.

DwnWthVwls 02-03-2017 03:00 PM

Can you give me some examples of elite trained classical drummers and guitarists I should be listening to?

I don't think anyone should listen to music for the technicality of it unless youre studying it, but if it's enjoyable and happens to be technically elite I don't see a problem with pointing it out and appreciating it.

Zep and Page was some of the sloppiest rock ever. FAIL. Case in point.

Page is the only rock guitarist who exists and there isn't a culture in rock music outside of him? Huh, good to know.

Pretty sure you've got it backwards here since I was talking about rock culture in general driving people to care about technical ability, not just Payge's playing.

Do you mean classical music or just music played by classically-trained musicians?

DwnWthVwls 02-03-2017 05:52 PM

Idk, Elphenor wasn't clear.. that's why I asked.

Marc Ribot and Noel Akchote both play great classical guitar.

I love the Jeopardy skits.

Frownland 04-18-2017 04:58 PM

As a certified SNL hater, the Jeopardy sketches are pretty funny. Mostly because of Norm McDonald.
