I always feel conflicted about artists from that era and underage groupies. I don't know exactly what the attitude toward banging a teenager was back then, and since I don't know just how much they realized, or should have been expected to realize, they were doing something ****ty, I don't know just how disgusted I should be.

Yeah, there's this too. And allegedly the girl was 16? 16 is the age of consent in my state. I don't want to sound insensitive but I don't understand why statutory rape is really a thing in some cases. They choose to have sex with these people, only to have the law say otherwise. Throughout history it's been different, which isn't to say it was any more right for like 60 year olds to marry 13 year old or worse. I just have conflicting views on the issue, and I guess part of it comes from minimal education on it.

It's 16? Like entirely and not just between fellow minors? I'd google it but I don't want to end up on a list.

Okay, so apparently the way it works is the person has to be within 4 years. 19 maximum it looks like. And apparently someone gets in trouble if they have sex with a 12 year old but I'm not entirely sure which party gets it? That's kinda bizarre.

Statutory rape is not about the inability to consent, its about the inability to make a decision about consent. Im not 100% in agreement with it, but i understand why its a thing and probably does wayyyyy more good than harm.

I'd agree with that. It's hard to say when consent is really given or if the girls are just manipulated into giving it. But then again it's hard to tell with older relationships as well.

I think everyone should just be asexual tbh. It'd solve the overcrowding issue too.

This is exactly it, along with the power dynamics at play. Its complicated for sure, and the child in question has said it was a completely consensual experience, but what kind of grown man wants to have sex with a child in the first place?
