A roof I was not supposed to be on. But it was a nice night; what was I supposed to do? NOT get on the roof?
^ Hey! You are the first self-confessed roof-topper that I've met - it's great to meet another enthusiast. (The times I've talked a friend into exploring a roof with me they don't seem to mind it, but you just know they'll never bother doing it again. ).. and before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm refering strictly to flat rooves; a stroll through the air-conditioning units to the parapet. Nothing remotely dangerous.
Well, you obviously survived getting stuck on a roof. That's never happened to me, but I have been found out on several occassions. Luckily, security guys are usually more puzzled than angry; probably relieved that they don't have a burglar or jumper on their hands.

^ First and foremost we all have to find "whatever gets you through the night." You are plenty old enough to know what you're doing, OccultH, but with the lifestyle you describe you may not be doing your brain or your body many favours. Of course, that depends on how far you walk your dog.
To India and back would be my suggestion.

To go a little further and to annoy Occult by shining the bright uncomfortable light of attention on him, I couldn't stay in bed that long. There have been times, yes, when I was working and so exhausted that when I got a chance I would sleep until the evening, but even then, and certainly now, if I try to sleep past a certain point I find it getting really uncomfortable and I have to get up. I think the human body knows when it needs to be out and about, and it definitely can't be good for you to stay in bed that long. Even in hospitals, those recovering from operations are still encouraged, if they can, to spend some time even sitting outside the bed. Do you not worry about bedsores, seriously?

When I get achey from being in bed I take ibuprofen. I think I roll around too much to get bedsores.

I live in a right to work (get fired without cause) state. 7 years ago I loved my job. I went hiking and swimming frequently. I worked out at the Y.

One day I was having a casual conversation with my boss about baseball. I don't talk much about sports here but I used to enjoy low level or amateur sports a pretty lot. High school football, girl's soccer, community college baseball, I liked the purity in it. So I was talking about a local baseball team. Not even minor league. As in not affiliated with any major league team. They did have a loud speaker announcer. So I mentioned to my boss in what I thought was the safest conversation possible that I wished they just casually announced the batter and occasionally mention the strike count and keep it simple. I basically said the announcer annoyed me by talking too much. Well **** me if the announcer wasn't my bosses good friend and "did a lot for children" and suddenly it was like I was against the family atmosphere of the games. Soon thereafter I was fired. No problem at all with my work performance. No reason given. I got on unemployment which was great. I got another job but I actually liked that one. I thought I was moving up. I know millions go through a million times worse but that plus whatever else set me off. I know it's pussy but that's the stupid ****ing story.

I hate parties in the traditional sense of booze, loud music and lots of people I don't know. A small, relaxed private thing with a few friends is nice, but when people start going downtown to dance and pay for overpriced drinks while being deafened by ****ty music played waaay too loud... I'm going the **** home!

Another thing that annoys/annoyed me is the pub crawl tradition. Do you do that over there in the US? You have to go from pub to pub, so every time you get comfortable, nice seat, decent music, you're there maybe an hour when suddenly "We're off to (say) Murphy's! Let's go!" So you have to leave your primo seat, struggle back into the cold night, head to Murphy's and then fight for a seat, often not getting one, to be less comfortable, colder and less settled than you were. Just getting used to that and "We're off to The Copper Crow lads!"

Rinse and repeat.

What is the point? Every time you move it's later, so you've less chance of scoring a decent seat, and should you have been in a conversation, that's ****ed now as everyone heads back out into the night.

Oh, and at the end, we all head to a night club. Maybe two.

**** that.
I mean, really. ****. That.

Does anyone get the logic behind it? Drinkers, can you help me out? It has never made sense to me. It's not like you get kicked out of one bar and have to move on or anything.

I have never once done that. Those kind of people would never invite me and once I had my seat and my drink I would just be like ok later. Always have a book on you just in case.

Beers, no. Not here. Every bar sells the same basic beer, and anyway, all the guys and girls order the same ****ing thing, or a variant of it, at every bar. Vodka and Coke here, Vodka and lime there, Vodka and rum next etc. As for people? Who the **** cares? I rarely saw anyone strike up conversations: the group all kept in its own little huddle. So why not do it in the first bar and ****ing stay there where we're warm and settled?
