Underrated like very few other things. I sort of get the sense that even most people who care deeply about music don't pay attention to what the bass guitars are doing (when there are any).
I do, actively, and think other people are missing out but whatever.

Overrated cause it doesn't last that long unless you want to drop way too much money for diminishing returns and if you're the paranoid type (ME) it can suck to do it in groups or be out in public stoned. But it's still an awesome way to spend an hour or two alone regardless.
