Today's Section turns out to be the Soundtracks one, and for the first time I had to re-throw the dice to find a page. There are only nine Soundtrack pages and at first I overshot. Second attempt brought me to page 5:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/soundtrac...s-00-09-a.html |
At last the dice have taken me to the World/Folk forum! On page 32, I came to a zero-reply thread entitled "Klezmer". Perhaps one reason it has zero replies is because it is now entirely redundant, given that there is a later, and more popular, Klezmer Week thread.
So if its ok, I'll cheat a bit, and bump Klezmer Week instead of that old lone Klezmer OP :- http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...zmer-week.html Is merging threads easy? If so, I'd be v grateful if a passing mod could merge this: http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...6-klezmer.html into the Klezmer Week above please. |
I'd merge them, but that single-post thread is older so it would become the first post in the thread. I feel that would make the thread not very reader-friendly.
|
^ Thanks! I didn't realize that: I thought the mod got to choose which thread went inside which thread.
In my OP I talked about the possibility of finding some old gems, and I think this thread is one. This morning I was taken to the Songwriting section, and on page 12, arrived at this under-responded-to thread:- http://www.musicbanter.com/song-writ...1-trilogy.html See you there, I hope  |
This morning, I've arrived at page 33 of this self-same Games section, and here's the thread I landed on. This game is quite old and simple, so I hope it isn't being played out somewhere else on the forum at the moment:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/games-lis...lity-game.html |
Back in the Soul section today, after our last visit, which was to an Aretha Franklin thread. This time round it's this thread from page 11:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/soul-funk...ie-lady-t.html See you there! |
The thread that comes under the microscope today is from the Media section, which we visited about two weeks back. This time it's page 35:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/media/46624-dr-who.html |
I did the microscope metaphor yesterday, so today I'll use spotlight, and the spotlight falls on this thread on page 3 of the Prog and Psych sub-forum:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/prog-psyc...ple-thief.html My impression is that Kiiii didn't open many music rec threads, so I'm curious to see what is special about this band; hope u r 2 |
... microscope....spotlight... today's metaphor is that little red-dot laser-pen some people use for their presentations, and the red dot falls in the Current Affairs section, where this thread was dormant on page 31:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/current-e...er-seen-4.html |
In some haste, here's today's thread - from page 65 of the Punk section, so expect something rather old and dusty...
http://www.musicbanter.com/punk/5220...ng-victim.html |
Today the dice take us to page 17 of the Jazz and Blues section:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/jazz-blue...k-truffaz.html |
This is becoming thread of the year material :thumb:
|
^ Thank you very much for the kind comment, Pet_Sounds! This game seems to be going pretty well, thanks to all the people who have been prepared to join in so far. We are only in February though - it's gonna need some stamina yet before it has a shot at thread of the year!
Anyway, today we are back in the talk instruments section, so this is one for the real musicians among us:- http://www.musicbanter.com/talk-inst...ss-guitar.html |
Here's a chance to explore another obscure backwater of both MB and of the world of music; from page 31 of the Rap&HipHop section:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/rap-hip-h...oidlewild.html |
The Stereo&Production section doesn't get a lot of attention, as a lot of it is rather dry Q & A stuff I believe. Luckily, today's thread, hiding on page 23, slid slightly off-topic almost immediately:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/stereo-pr...erformers.html |

^ HaHa! That post would make more sense in a different thread P_S !
Today I'm bumping a bit of more recent history, from page 12 of the General Music section, where I was led to this slightly misplaced thread:- http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...ades-grey.html |
Quote:
Serves me right for having two tabs open. |
^ You need to sharpen up your game, P_S !
It's taken over a month of this game for us to arrive at the Ska&Reggae section, so if you've been patiently waiting for this moment, now's the time to revitalize the thread that I found on page 11 :- http://www.musicbanter.com/reggae-sk...ed-reggae.html See you there, I hope! |
I think this is only the second time we've come to a thread that was opened by an active member. On page 5 of the Sport&Rec section, we have Pet_Sound's exhortation:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/sport-rec...es-thread.html Supporting the Orioles is like buying a puppy, I suppose; it's not just for the initial fun and excitement, it's a long term commitment. So here's a chance for us to renew our vows to the Orioles. Let's go! [Today's fun factoid: the Sport&Rec section has no stickied threads, which makes it unusual afaik.] |
In haste, today's lucky thread is from page 7 of The Lounge:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/87...ide-today.html |
:) ^
|
Your thread was a pleasure to bump, Mindfulness: it's a question that can apply to everyone, and it's always relevant, because it's always "today."
"Universally relevant" may not be the way to describe today's post, from page 18 of the Classic Rock sub-section, though I personally am quite happy to take a look at these guys:- http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-n-ro...ney-rebel.html See you there for your opinions I hope! |
Quote:
awesome thread idea |
^ Thanks, Mindfulness! I think yours is the first "bowdown" accolade I've ever received; I've just been watching it for about ten minutes, to get a little self-esteem buzz going and will probably be back later to watch it again. Thanks, and here's a "wavey" for you: :wavey:
Anyway, today we are in the Avant-Garde section again, on page 11 to bump:- http://www.musicbanter.com/avant-gar...ang-dance.html See you there, I hope! |
One hates to be contrary...

^ oops! My apologies to Trollheart for overlooking his very kind comment.
Today's thread is in the Rock&Metal section, way back in it's long history, on page 167! http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-meta...core-band.html See you there I hope! |
We've now been right round the clock in terms of MB sections in which I have bumped a thread, so today, we are back in a section we've already visited. Today it's the turn of the World&Folk section again, and on page 5 there is:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...ic-thread.html See you there I hope! |
The Hardcore&Emo subsection gets a visit today, where this thread was lurking on page 7:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/hardcore-...terpillar.html |
Machine is still around isn't he? One of his threads, on page 10 of the Songwriting section, is awoken from its slumbers this morning:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/song-writ...pty-house.html See you there, if you're in the mood for a bit of LitCrit ! |
Page 7 of the Prog&PsychRock section has this thread in it:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/prog-psyc...on-thread.html See you there I hope! |
Today brings us to the Indie&Alt thread again, and on page 10 is this thread by the respected poster, Jackhammer:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/indie-alt...bears-den.html See you there I hope! |
It's the turn of the Current Events section this morning; on page 11 is a thread from the notorious JWB:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/current-e...cy-pt-3-a.html If you enjoy political debate, I'll see you there perhaps. |
Revisiting the Ska&Reggae section, I came to this thread on page 12:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/reggae-sk...icide-bid.html See you there I hope ! |
This game has stood idle for a few days, partly because the recently bumped threads didn't excite much comment. Connected to this is the fact that rubber soul hasn't been around for a while. Does anyone have any info about what's happened to him? Perhaps Stephen can ring Burger King again and make inquiries.
Anyway, here's another thread that you are invited to re-invigorate, from page 10 of the Sport&Rec section:- http://www.musicbanter.com/sport-rec...ys-sports.html |
Today the dice take me to this self-same Games section, and on page 43 I landed on an old "Draw yourself in Paint" thread, but as Chiomara opened one that is more current, I'm bumping hers instead:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/games-lis...-paint-13.html I hope you can go there either to contribute or to admire again some wonderful self-portraits. |
This morning I arrived at page 12 of the Jazz&Blues section, where the dice took me here :-
http://www.musicbanter.com/jazz-blue...a-chicago.html This thread offers us all the excitement of voting to break what is at present a 5 - 5 tie in the thread's poll. Which way's it gonna go? The poor OP has been biting his nails since 2012 so let's get in there, vote, and put this baby to rest. |
Back in the Lounge section again today, to bump and blitz this thread from page 276 (lotta pages in the Lounge, that's for sure) :-
http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/70-urban-legends.html See you there with your urban legend, I hope. |
Today brings us to a thread from page 19 of the Classic Rock subsection:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-n-ro...lues-rock.html Let's see if we can update a thread about this popular genre. |
Today, it's the turn of the Electronica section again, and on page three we have this thread to re-enjoy:-
http://www.musicbanter.com/electroni...er-over-4.html |
