Guess the Movie!

(Not sure if this should be here or in the media section. Move it if you need to)

A little different to the "Guess the Song!" thread. The idea here is to describe, briefly, a scene from a movie and see who can guess it. The scene, however, should not be an iconic one, as that would obviously give the game away too early. Try to pick movies that are not too obscure, that most people will have a chance of having seen or at least know about.

You're free to give hints if you wish. Please don't use names - either of people or places - as that would also give things away. So, for instance, a scene from say Blade Runner might be described thus: "In the pouring rain a hovercar descends down into the city and a man gets out." Obscure enough not to give this scene away (though that is a little iconic: I'm just using it as an example) but not too obscure that nobody will know what the hell you're talking about.

One question per post, if possible try to let someone else have a go before you try again, though this is by no means a rule. Try to make your scene something that can't be discovered via Google or YouTube. No matter how well you try, the scene may not be specific enough and in that case, players should ask questions to try to narrow it down, and unlike the other thread, you're not restricted to a yes or no answer. Anyone can of course guess at any time. Whoever gets it right goes next, big surprise.

So, to start off, try this:

A woman falls but a man is afraid to help her up, and looks away.

You don't have to make threads, you know.

What is the name of the movie?

I actually do, you know. I'm like a shark: if I don't keep making threads I die.
The name of the movie is Fred.

Frownland 01-22-2018 02:12 PM

Is it one of those schlocky movies that you expect everyone to know because you watched it growing up?

No. I feel you will definitely have seen it. It is quite famous. Everyone may not have seen it though.

I don't think that it's a question you can answer honestly TH.

Well obviously not, but I think you may have mentioned it at one point.
As for the other? Here's the weird thing: no, but it looks like it is.

Ask some questions. That's how it works.

Why is nobody doing the obvious and asking who was in it? What year it was? Come on guys...

Never been a fan of it, I always felt like it was the laziest way you could possibly adapt that book.

Anyway: A man rests his palm and forehead on a door and closes his eyes. It unlatches.

Trollheart 01-22-2018 02:56 PM

What year is this cinematic feast from?

Frownland 01-22-2018 02:57 PM

1980

Seriously? One of the most debated scenes in the film and a very pivotal one at that. It was the moment when he gets out of the pantry and there's no ambiguity to suggest that it was anything but supernatural.

Just watched it and that isn't what happens dude.
He's standing looking at it talking to Lloyd and then he hears it unlatch and he smiles.

I'm so triggered.

It is actually what happens, I just didn't include the dialogue.
