9/3/2025 - The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis - Woodward Theater, Cincinnati, Ohio

Both The Messthetics (Fugazi's rhythm section and guitarist Anthony Pirog) and jazz sax player Lewis have their own careers but over the last two years, they have found time to both release an album and do a number of tours together. The album came out in early last year--I enjoyed listening to it while at home recovering from surgery. The album combines jazz and rock but not in a typical fusion way. They played my area while I was still on the mend but I was fortunate to see them when they returned less than a year and a half later. The album was balanced more toward jazz than rock, while the show I saw tilted the balance in favor of rock. Regardless, both the album and the show were fine. I would see either act again, either separately or together.

I saw Elvis Costello a few weeks ago and coming up is Samantha Fish w/Jon Spencer. I also have a classic rock show with limited original members; April Wine w/Molly Hatchet.
