i would say dance, cuz here they take every semi-good to great song ever and turn it into a club dance/techno thing and it seems to work for people. *shudders*

TrampInaTux 02-19-2006 02:22 AM

Its definetly RnB. If you think about it there aren't that many Hip Hop Artists who manage to make an impact on the charts. There are thousands of rappers floating around, yes, but none of them really manage to break through into other cultures apart from Rap. And if you look the charts are filled with RnB artists. I think it's because RnB is such a wide range of music, so because so many artists are put under RnB nowadays there's a big chance that a handful of them will fill up the charts.

judas_priest 02-20-2006 10:53 AM

Who the f*ck is Jack Johnson?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 02-20-2006 11:08 AM

Youre kidding me?! Wow. You'd probably recognise it if you heard... He did that Upside Down song not long ago that was literally everywhere ? I think thats the latest release anyhoo..

judas_priest 02-20-2006 11:12 AM

Lol- doesn't sound familiar, but then I don't tend to listen to the radio, we only get crappy stations, and I don't have music channels, so maybe that's why.

heh. i actually had no clue who he was until they finally played one of his songs up here. was alright, i didnt particularly like it though.

ShOwTiM3 02-20-2006 11:20 AM

We also get crappy stations in here... and crappy music channels too. There are always a good month too late on everything. And their rotations of songs are totally digusting. There are two decent channels... and even there you have to be lucky to hit a song you like.

STAiND 02-20-2006 07:03 PM

Is it just me? or is the whole "emo" thing spreading like the black plague?

no your right its spreading.. but i wouldn't call it a plague..

i'd rather that.. then well rap, or country music..

sleepy jack 02-20-2006 07:06 PM

I swear i'm the only one in like..all of washington that has even heard the term "emo"..and yeah, hawthorne heights>>>50 cent easily.

DUDE! Why must you use 50 Cent to represent rap. I would listen to Diabolic, or Nas over Hawthorne Heights or "MyBloodyCorpseCriesTearsOfBloodAndSorrow". Geez, do not ever use 50 Cent to stand for rap again. That is ridiculous. And eminem > Hawthorne heights anyday man. You could have chosen a better analogy for rap.

Oh, and about the STAiND kid, don't bother. That is the kid that thinks NIN covered Johnny Cash with the song "Hurt"

Really? Haha my school full of..outcast "punks" aka preteens who listen to good charlotte =) Alex, I meant MTV rap that chingy fiddy poop. Not actual rap.

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:14 PM

Oh, ok then. Continue with your arguments, with the kid who's got it all wrong

can't be any worse in the school i went to, (and i'm sure there stil like it) one day molly's favorite band could be 50 cent only cause he was number one on mtv and or mushc music.. and the next day she could love faith hill... thats how bad it is here.. there just about being cool.. and all the outkast/freaks are maybe 15 people.. and as sad as it sounds i'm one of them.. haha i know right.. but i don't have that look.. i just i dunno be myself i'm not a clone.. everyone else is a copy of the media..

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:16 PM

Wow. Explosions, stop while you are ahead. You are just like every other kid who belives that they have impecable music taste, because you trash rap music, and worship classic rock. You are not original. Your taste in music is not new.

FUCK YOU!.. i never once said i have impecable music taste.. but clearly i like my taste in music or i wouldn't listen to it. i am original but not because of the music i listen to. you have no idea who i am or what i'm like.. so take you computer typed up words and eat shit.

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:26 PM

Do not start attacking.

1. You do trash rap music
2. You do love classic rock
3. You said that everyone else in your school is "copies of the media", insinuating that you aren't one of these copies. Thus implying that the music you like makes you original.

THE LOGIC IS ASTOUNDING

Bad grammar makes my eyes bleed

and don't act liek you weren't trying to start something.

i don't always trash rap.. i have said i used to like old rap.. and i do have respect for old rap.. but who ****ing cares that i don't like rap now.. why do care so much.
i don't love all classic rock, i like a few well known classic bands.. other bands that weren;t well known i also love too..
you don't know me, you don't know my likes and dislikes.. you have no idea what i'm like outside of this place. don't act like you know me, and don't act like you really care that i don't liek rap.. because you don't and i'm sure you don't care that i "trash" it either, you just love it when people do so you can jump all over thme.

and this personal attack wouldn't have started if it wasn't for you.. so please only give me half the credit.. thank you for your time.. i'll stop responding to you now.

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:39 PM

You go for it big girl!
You trash rap. You have said that it sucks.
But you couldn't name me any good rappers, simply because you are to lazy to check it out. Not all rap is about fukkin' ho's n shootin' dem ugly bitches wif my gat. But, just as idiodic people generalize emo and say "all of it is about people who cut their wrists and cry about their girlfriends" people generalize hip hop the same way. You have condemed people in the past for this cracked view of emo music, yet when I do the same to you, you take the high and ritcheous ground? You don't make any sense (much like your posts).

when i say things like that about rap, i'm saying what i've heard.. which means all they play around these parts.. i live in newfoundland the most unknown place in the msuic world.. there might be three people in this whole town that have heard of Alkaline Trio, Brand New.. etc.. but you ask someone to name some rappers.. and they could make a long list, of all the mainstream rappers on mtv/much music. i can only talk about what i've heard, but if all i heard in rap are mainstreamers what out of that will make me want to listen to "good" rap artist.. i can't generalize like you said.. because i haven't heard it all and i admit that. but why may i ask did you even bring this up.. how bored are you to be bringing up things that happened when i first joined? you really have to learn to let things go and move on.

That is why I brought it up. And this post was from 20 minutes ago, not when you first joined.

As for hearing rap that is beyond the mainstream:
Where are you sitting, right now?
What are you sitting if front of?
If the answer to the last question was "Computer" then continue
Does your computer have a keyboard?
Does your computer have a mouse?
Does your computer have an active internet connection?

Use these resources to broaden your musical taste. Trust me, it works. You will find great music that you never thought you would like, or that even existed.

To find good rap check out:
Atmosphere
Immortal Technique
GZA
Nas
Public Enemy
Diabolic
Gangstarr (Guru)

oh i know and thank you for pointing all of these things out hun. and sweetie, because i don't watch tv nor listen to the radio, i doon't know what all the hot bands are... and i have found at least 30 bands in the past 6 months on this comnputer of mine that i adore.. and i found more that i really hate.. i give many types of music a chance. i'm not as big of a noob and you think i am. i choose not to listen to rap because i really don't want to, i don't see a reason to, it doesn't interest me. Its not the lack of intruments or the lyircs.. its the sound, the way rappers rap that bugs me the must.. i prefer singing.. and thats it.

EDIT: it gets rather annoying when every time i post back to you.. i find that you have edited your post and changed and or added more..

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:58 PM

It angers you that I suggested music for you?
That is odd.

explosions-in-my-pants 02-20-2006 08:02 PM

when did i say it angered me??

i said it annoy's me that you always edit your post after i posted... or during because then it doesn't make full sense when i respond to you.. thats all i was pointing out.. and go right ahead tell me about "good" bands to you, i'm open to new music, i'm just explaining to you that rap is not the type of music that interest me.

IamAlejo 02-20-2006 08:40 PM

To find good rap listen to aesop rock and jedi mind tricks.

But some of the stuff bill posted is decent.

bungalow 02-20-2006 08:42 PM

I was going to post JMT because they are my favorite underground at the moment, but I didn't know if she would like it. I thought that it would be better if I posted PE instead.

STAiND 02-21-2006 06:37 AM

wow, well, i see i was wrong about a lot, but, damn, im sorry

cant we all just be friends?

juicebox 02-21-2006 08:44 AM

I think indie's a genre the same way emo's a genre. I mean come on, emo = emotional. Therefore, isn't all music emo?

Independant labels are getting kind of huge, too. Ex. Epitaph.

Mr Sensitive 02-21-2006 08:53 AM

Wot?
