I've never bothered with Amazon, wasn't sure it even did recommendations.

My Last FM recommendations at the moment aren't bad

Spoon
Fionn Regan
Blind Pilot
Wolf Parade
Horse Feathers
Local Natives

All them are meant to be good, I think anyway.
Amazon has this 'people who bought this also bought...'-type thing, and if you take that as a rec, it's usually spot on.

As for LastFM, I like how now they recommend new albums to you - it's how I found out that UNKLE, Junkie XL and Hybrid had new albums out, among others of course. As for artists...

Swell Maps
Kasey Chambers
Anna Nalick
The Mekons
The Orb
Prefab Sprout

...to name a few that should be interesting judging by what I've read about them.

Those are really awesome recommendations, I suggest you listen to Horse Feathers because they are amazing, start with House With No Home.

My top 6 recommendations...I think they are pretty good (minus the incredibly terrible Merchant Ships).

The Devil Is Electric
Operation: Cliff Clavin
Merchant Ships
The One-Up Downstairs
Look Mexico
Toby Foster

I never use RYM for recommendations really. I just use it to catalog my collection, rate stuff, keep track of how many times I've played new acquisitions, and basically keep a running record of what I play. I "bump" every album I listen to so the most recent stuff listed is what I've most recently listened to (exceptions being when I remember I own something and need to add it...but I'm not actually listening to it).

I think last.fm suggestions are pretty good, but I don't use them all that often either. I have gotten some great ones over the years though. A lot of times I already know of the artists so I ignore them until I'm ready to explore them.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Every time you post I am amazed at how similar our tastes are. I try to go everywhere, but my mainstays are usually spot on with what you seem to listen to regularly.

It just takes playing 2 albums to get that kind of number.
