The Saddest Songs Ever

Hi there. I'm a newbie so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place.
I'm working on a list of the saddest songs ever, and I'd appreciate it a lot if you guys at musicbanter.com could help me out by giving me a list of what you think are some of the saddest ever songs. The more songs the merrier...*how ironic*

Many thanks in advance.

madeinNY 01-06-2006 04:30 PM

I got lots of sad vibes from everything I've heard of him...maybe its just me, I'm in a depressed mood all the time...most of the time.

Yes.....I cry every time I hear drunken Ira Hayes and Jackson:rolleyes:

On the subject Of Johnny Cash though

Johnny Cash- I Hung My Head

EDIT: Ethan, Johnny Cash had tons of sad songs. Way more than just Hurt.
But not even close to all of his songs were sad.

madeinNY 01-06-2006 04:31 PM

Johnny Cash-Hurt (that IS the song that says...I hurt myself today to see if I could still feel pain)

sleepy jack 01-06-2006 04:32 PM

I just fucking said that one.

Billy Talent "Nothing To Lose"

bungalow 01-06-2006 04:33 PM

Hurt-NIN

that version is more sad than Johnny Cash IMO

madeinNY 01-06-2006 04:33 PM

Misfits, I know this. I was asking a question though...I forgot to put my question mark in....that is the song that goes "I hurt myself today to see if I could still feel pain", right?

sleepy jack 01-06-2006 04:34 PM

Yes it is.
and i agree NIN's is more sad.
Mainly because trent's voice is amazing for it.

bungalow 01-06-2006 04:36 PM

John Lennon- Real Love
Elliot Smith's music.
The topic may not be sad...but, when you start thinking about how he died, ugh, it is sad and creepy.
Hari Kari.....*shudders*

sleepy jack 01-06-2006 04:37 PM

Oh on that note.
Something Corporate "Wait"
Keep in mind the singer has cancer.
It makes me teary eyed...

Are you saying that NIN's cover of Hurt was not as good as Johnny's original?
Because, if you are, then I am laughing really hard at you.

Not so much saying that, but the simple fact the johnny cash wrote the song personally makes it more emotional for me, not comparing talent

bungalow 02-20-2006 07:57 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Allright! Now that I am done laughing hysterically, I will tell you that that song was written by Nine Inch Nails, and that Johnny Cash is the one who covered it. Not vice versa.

Pink City 02-21-2006 03:42 AM

Journey - just died in your arms tonight

Jeeze, i made a mistake, im sorry, i was never really into NIN or Johnny cash, just recently started really listening to them.

I stand corrected *bow*

cant we all just be friends?

juicebox 02-21-2006 08:39 AM

I cried the first time I heard "Time of Your Life" by Green Day. Then I really, really started to hate that song.

"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt makes me cry, for my own reasons.

Splendid Isolation has been up there for me lately...

As has "Clocks."...but that's more for personal reasons than the actual quality of the song.
