Sparta

Remember Sparta? The offshoot of the band At The Drive In? I think their last album was made in 2006 and it sucked? I'm seeing them tonight :finger:

Justthefacts 02-17-2018 08:42 PM

Waxahatchee

The indie rock chick with the lesbo sister. Seeing her do a solo acoustic set tonight. Not a huge fan but my friends are going so what the hell.

If you talk to him tell him to come to quit dicking around in Chicago and to hit up California whenever he comes to America.

Just found out I'm going to get to see St Germain perform live for my birthday in my old hometown for free at the Rochester Jazz Festival. Had to spin this one to celebrate!

Just got a really good seat for Shinedown for August 26th at the BB&T Pavilion.

Center stage, 12 rows from the stage.

At 54 years old, I'll probably be the oldest Shinedown fanboy in attendance. I have all their stuff.

Their first three were crunchy grinders. The 4th went with the big glossy production sound, but was still pretty good.

Their last CD only had 3-4 keepers. They're getting preachy.

Their 6th one is coming out in May. It'll be the one that decides whether or not I buy any more.

Godsmack is opening up. I know zero about this band, so I'm going to have to look into them.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I really need to hear before I go see Godsmack?

Frownland 03-25-2018 08:32 AM

I don't think you rwally need to hear any Godsmack tbh but if you want to get an idea of their sound their s/t and Awake are good choices.

The Batlord 03-25-2018 11:31 AM

I was kinda into Godsmack as a teenager, but these days "Voodoo" is still pretty alright Alice in Chains worship, if not required listening.

Pleasures of the Ultraviolent?

The show I'm going to has a band I've never heard of named "Haux" in the lineup. I figured they were going to be the opening act but it turns out they're now listed as the headliner.
Checked them out on YouTube, thinking they were a punk band, but it turns out they sound like a boring, too mellow, ambient audio sedative.
The polar opposite of the other two bands.
I can't recall ever seeing a more mismatched lineup for a show.
Needless to say, I'll be leaving after The Queers and The Dickies play their sets.

Frownland 04-08-2018 08:16 PM

Neon Indian tomorrow doing a DJ set. I saw his band come down about a year ago and he tore it up. So hell yeah, I'll try to get him blazed while I'm at it.

They're cancelled because of visa issues. Probably going to end up cancelling my SF trip if that show is affected since that was my whole reason for going. :verymademoji: **** donald trump.

Turns out that I took a no cancellation discount rate on my hotel for the Los Angeles shows, so I'll be catching Ken Vandermark and Nate Wooley on one of the nights. Trying to find a show for the second night, I might just call it a loss and not have to spend second day in LA.

Mastodon and Primus are coming to town in a month. Strange combo, but both bands are sweet so I can't complain in the slightest.

uncle salty 05-30-2018 03:51 PM

I just went this past Monday to see the university's symphony orchestra. (I live in a college town)

I'm not big on that sort of music, but seeing it live is pretty cool. They're leaving soon for a couple of shows in China.
