Saddle Creek isn't doing much right now (well, at least not with the good bands) except a bunch of shows at pubs and bars, which under a new law only people 17 and older can go in unless you go through this long application process (counts for one night, at one bar or pub, and you have to leave immediately after the show)

it was actually easier for ally (she's 15) to book herself at a pub than for her fans to get inside, which is why the new law sucks.

the money coming into Omaha by entertainment actually lowered by about 8% after the law was passed.

so, yeah. I'm pissed, but so is every other teen in eastern Nebraska.

I'm actually excited for you. There is something about that band that not many bands can achieve live. I think it's something like honesty

And won't Seattle be the 'hometown' show? They're gonna get all gushy

Mojo 10-25-2009 02:24 PM

FaSho 10-25-2009 07:32 PM

Not if you're under 17.

simplephysics 10-25-2009 08:10 PM

Might also see Mount Eerie in the coming weeks, which should redeem me from missing Karl Blau when he played with LAKES yesterday evening.

Jealous.... even if that means no trickrtreatin for you!

Rickenbacker 10-26-2009 07:10 PM

Same. Even in a world where Beyonce has the best video OF ALL TIME, I still have faith in flying dogs and in my Weezer!

The legal age in Canada has been 21 since the late 80s - early 90s.

.

I'm not sure about P.E.I (Because seriously who cares?) but it's 19 in every Province but Alberta and Quebec where it's 18.

FETCHER. 10-26-2009 08:46 PM

Im going to something called Inside Out for the Arches birthday party, Showtek and the Tidy Boys, and I think Yoji Biomehanika is playing also, but maybe I'm just getting over excited cos the website says only Yoji. But Im praying Yoji Biomehanika's playing :D:D

Edit: It is Yoji Biomehanika that's playing apparantly he's changed his name to just Yoji now. That sucks.

no it hasn't - i live in vancouver genius. i don't know how things are run on your backwards island, but like loathsome pete said, everywhere else is 19 or 18.

EDIT: upon further research, the legal age in PEI is 19 too. this must be awkward for you.

I've been to Québec, it's 18 there so...

That should be an interesting show. Joe Buck is opening for Dirt Communion on Thursday, however I have to go see the UNR Wind Ensemble doing Lord of the Rings at 7:30 for a class so I can't make it.

dollarsandcents 10-27-2009 03:05 PM

November 15th - A Place to Bury Strangers and Japandroids
December 10th - Ian Brown

RZA show has been rearranged, no date as of yet though.

Not exactly the next few months, but I'm going to Glastonbury 2010.

86 Position 10-27-2009 03:29 PM

hopefully Synkro if he goes to MTL

Necromancer 10-27-2009 05:16 PM

NightRanger & Journey in Beaumont,Tx. last month. PearlJam, will be in Philly,Pa. just across the river, from here in N.J.

jacklovezhimself 10-27-2009 06:04 PM

I was going to a Dan Deacon show this friday but I don't think that's happening anymore.

I'm more excited about November 11th when The Pixies come to Chicago to play Doolittle in it's entirety. I'm so pumped.

music_phantom13 10-28-2009 07:07 AM

I want to go to a concert... but it's mostly utter **** for the next few weeks in DC. I might go see Pinback tonight but I'm not a huge fan of Black Cat, I can't drink so I don't like going to bars all that much.

[Droogie] 10-28-2009 10:40 AM

November 14 - Metallica :)

Bane of your existence 10-28-2009 11:10 AM

Going to Brother Ali in a couple weeks, as well as Laura Marling and Dead Milkmen.

music_phantom13 10-28-2009 01:07 PM

So someone tell me very very soon, are Pinback worth going to see live? I mean the tickets are only like $12. I honestly haven't listened to them that much, but I think they're pretty good. If they make for a decent live show, I'll probably go.

chrissygerraty 10-29-2009 04:42 PM

I'm going to see The Dodos, Headlights, The Shaky Hands, J.Tillman, Califone to name a few. There are always so many bands rolling through San Francisco...

SaphiaGlam 10-30-2009 06:23 AM

Hopefully Guns 2 Roses; like the biggest UK Gn'R tribute band. I'm friends with the band members and they're pretty awesome =]
Hopefully the Parlor Mob again in November...

I thought they put on a good show.

Yeah, they were decent. I'm glad I ended up going.

I think I'm going to go see Girls & Real Estate at Black Cat on Tuesday. Girls are decent, not a favorite but they're alright. I'm more interested in Real Estate. I recently became friends with the owner of Underwater Peoples, who works at the Red Onion, and he got me a copy of their sold out 7", which was lucky because it's really good.

screemin187 10-31-2009 02:56 PM

All being well i'm going to see Slayer in November, Madball in December and Proven next April

Thats all thats on my list

simplephysics 10-31-2009 03:01 PM

Just bought a ticket to see The Swell Season on monday, should be a fairly decent show. i'm not terribly familiar with their music but I like what I've heard and I've got nothing better to do that night, I'll just consider it an early birthday present from myself.

Molecules 10-31-2009 03:38 PM

none of that music crap for me thanks, just Henry Rollins doing his spoken word thang in Janrooerry. can't fudging wait

http://artvoice.com/issues/v4n42/mus..._rollins_image

Mojo 10-31-2009 04:01 PM

I've always enjoyed Mr. Rollins when i've been to see him spew forth for a few hours.

Make sure you get there for the time it says on the ticket and be prepared to be there all night. He doesnt fuck about.

jackhammer 10-31-2009 05:09 PM

Slayer on the 19th of November and that's me done for the year I think. 3 gigs and one festival this year is not too bad considering I'm skint!
