I'm quite bloody jealous about the ones in bold, especially GZA and Mogwai/Fuck Buttons.

cardboard adolescent 08-11-2008 04:04 PM

you should probably be really jealous about polvo as well ;)

Piss Me Off 08-11-2008 04:05 PM

If you say so! Haven't heard of them, though that S.P.U.D you upped was veeery good.

lucifer_sam 08-11-2008 04:15 PM

Damn... My Bloody Valentine is spectacular. I would see them over Judas Priest and We Are Scientists any day.

****ing short **** town that I live in.

adidasss 08-11-2008 04:24 PM

Animal Collective some time in October methinks...YES I KNOW I SAID I DIDN'T LIKE THEM MUCH BUT I FIGURE THEY MAKE A GOOD SHOW! :|

jackhammer 11-13-2008 04:40 AM

Carter (The Unstoppable sex Machine)- next Friday and just last night got some tickets to see Dreadzone-well chuffed.

Zarko 11-13-2008 04:50 AM

January 14th at the Thebarton Theatre - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Bulldog 11-13-2008 06:03 AM

/\ Lucky bastard :D

I think me and a few flatmates are off to see 2 Many DJs in Liverpool sometime in the near future, but tickets are £50 a shot, and there's the train tickets, so I'll have to think about the proposition a bit more

Astronomer 11-13-2008 05:17 PM

I've got the opportunity to go to Soundwave festival in February because my friend has a spare ticket but I'm not sure if I wanna go or not!
Bands include:
NIN
Alice in Chains
Bloodhound Gang
Lamb of God
Dilinger Escape Plan
Alkaline Trio
Billy Talent
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
In Flames
Anberlin
Underoath
Every Time I Die
Devil Driver
Funeral for a Friend
Less Than Jake
Poison the Well
From First to Last
Hellogoodbye
Finch
Silverstein
Lacuna Coil
Straylight Run
+ heaps heaps more.

I'm not really that into any of the bands in particular but maybe it'll be a good live experience? What do you guys think?

dac 11-13-2008 05:20 PM

If its free then I'd go, live music is great. Plus if it sucks, you can probably just drink the sound away. My roomates love those kinds of bands, so I'd probably hate it there cause I have to hear how "good" Under****ingOath is all the time.

Lacuna Coil are not that original but I like them. Lamb Of God-brilliant band and of course -NIN. A lot of crap on there too but if you have the money and time, never let the chance of seeing music live pass you by. I have missed many bands over the years for one reason or another and it still annoys me even now.

Hrm. It's $130AU but that doesn't really concern me.

You're right. Live music is always a good experience regardless. I think I might just go then!

adidasss 11-13-2008 06:02 PM

Um, no, live music doesn't have to be a good experience, it can also be boring or just plum annoying. I'd avoid making the trip if you're not into the bands, unless it's right outside your door.

I personally wouldn't see those bands for that much money, but if money's no concern then by all means go.

What about if you have'nt heard some bands though? A festival can still be a great experience even if you are not into some of the bands. Some gigs are definitely terrible. Last month I was in London to watch one of my fave bands and they sucked but I'm still glad I went. If it's a financial and logistical struggle then it needs more though but if that's not a problem, then balls to it- enjoy it.

adidasss 11-13-2008 06:11 PM

Well like I said, I wouldn't go to a festival unless I was sure there's at least one band I really like playing. Especially if it's a big festival and isn't that close or costs money. It's a hassle to deal with that much people for something you're not really into (and chances are if the guy doesn't like some bands on that list, he won't dig the rest. It appears to be a themed festival).

Astronomer 11-13-2008 06:15 PM

Well, it pretty much is right outside my door. I haven't heard a lot of the bands playing and would like to - even if I don't end up liking them at least I will have broadened and challenged my musical taste. Plus, I'll be going with a bunch of friends and I'm sure we'll enjoy the day even if the bands aren't that captivating. If worse comes to worse, we'll just get hammered. Haha.

jackhammer 11-13-2008 06:16 PM

It's a she :D. I understand completely what you are saying and if you really dislike all the bands then by all means don't go but if you are unsure about a few bands and have the neccessary conkers, then take the chance.

dac 11-13-2008 06:39 PM

Live music is completely different IMO. I can never get into hardcore stuff just sitting at home, but when it's right in front of you it's awesome.

Agreed. I have so many memories of rocking out and having a great time to bands that I was originally unimpressed with and would never listen to their CDs at home or anything.

Blue 11-13-2008 07:37 PM

I'm hoping to see Christopher O'Riley in the coming months. Also, if Mogwai reschedule their postponed North American shows, I'll be heading to see them too.

FaSho 11-15-2008 03:06 PM

Tom Gabel is playing in my local music store on monday. It's weird considering I live in the middle of nowhere, but I'm looking forward to it.

soldersold 12-06-2008 03:15 PM

deep purple in 3 months

xx__J3SSi 12-07-2008 01:48 PM

dac 12-07-2008 01:49 PM

Sigur Ros announced a show in Detroit in September so I'll be going to that no matter what, but other than that, I haven't found anything worth going to in the Detroit-Cleveland-Columbus area.

Tyler Durden 12-07-2008 01:57 PM

Went to Vampire Weekend on Friday night in NYC. It was really fun!

pianokeys 12-10-2008 01:59 AM

I'm seeing a whole heap of bands in the coming months that I am not particularly interested in but will be seeing anyway at summer festivals and such: NIN, Alice in Chains, Bloodhound Gang, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Lamb of God, Finch, Alkaline Trio, Billy Talent, Silverstein, Lacuna Coil, 36 Crazyfists, Straylight Run, Underoath. And Coldplay.

FireInCairo 12-10-2008 03:34 AM

I like Lamb Of God and I have a soft spot for Lacuna Coil. I'm off to see Dreadzone on Saturday who can best be described as Electronic dub/reggae. Nothing planned next year but I am hoping that Porcupine Tree are touring as that's a definite yes for me.

Porcupine Tree toured in Aus this year but I missed them. Quite disappointed :(

I had tickets last year but could'nt make it and then I found out that they had just played at a venue that is only a short bus ride away :(. No way am I mising them and they usually release an album every 2 years so we are due one for 2009. Fingers crossed.

Have you seen the 'Arriving Somewhere..' live DVD? Very very good.

BatChainPuller 12-10-2008 09:48 AM

I'm severly low on cash at the moment so all I have coming up is Animal Collective in Glasgow next month. Cannot ****ing wait.

I used to love Straylight Run. I saw them 4 times one year. There really good live.

I'm seeing Ryan Adams and Oasis this Saturday and Passion Pit in January.
