It's not for a while, but I may go see Swans in February.

Wodensthrone coming home to play their first local show in two years, and how I've waited, Sea Bastard I've seen before and enjoyed, and BAST! Could not be more excited to see them for the first time. The majority of the rest of the line-up is death metal, and plenty of local acts. Should be a GOOOOOD day. |
John Fogerty on Friday, playing mostly CCR tunes.

I went to see Ben Klock on Friday the 28th there in The Arches, Glasgow. I was so ****ed I can't remember a ****ing thing so I won't say too much about that night except it seemed pretty good . I walked to the Gorbals in Glasgow with a bunch of random people afterwards to go party. Never thought I'd see the day I was doing the walk of shame through the Gorbals at 9:30am. I'm surprised I never got stabbed . CHEMICAL BROTHERS THIS FRIDAY BITCHES. Can't bloody wait. It will be a tough train ride home the next day however. |
John Fogerty last Friday was fantastic, but rather confusing. Hearing CCR tunes in a massive stadium rock setting with pyrotechnics, fireworks, smoke, jumbotrons, and elaborate flashing lights is kind of unsettling. I've always loved these tunes because they remind me of home, river bonfires, and hanging out drinking in the woods. Seeing them injected with so much flashy showmanship was strange and kind of overwhelming. However, that being said, Fogerty's band is very talented, they nailed every track and the sound was very well balanced. He interacted with the audience a lot, told some fun stories about touring in the late 60's and early 70's, and seemed very healthy and energetic. They did a good job at what they do, but I don't think the tour comes close to recapturing the spirit of CCR, it's kind of like watching John Fogerty cover his own songs in a modern / much heavier style.
Next up is White Lung in a Vancouver bar this Friday, The Tea Party next week, and Pallbearer the day after. Should be a refreshing return to bar venues, which I much prefer to stadium shows. |
Yo La Tengo this Friday...yeeeaaahhhh. It's one of their 30th anniversary shows, so I'm expecting nothing short of amazing.
