I like the libertines, not the greatest thing ever but I can sit down and listen to an album and not be disspointed. It's a shame that Pete decided to mess up something good.

It has to be said while I can understand why people think The Libertines are good , I cannot for the life of me work out why ANYONE would rate Babyshambles. It`s a bloody horrible record.

I'm not speaking of you in particular just people in general but, I find it ironic that people like pete and travis meeks and other druggies that have basically ruined their lives are look down upon. While people like Brad Nowell and Layne Stayley are mourned and idolized.

Up the Bracket speaks of drug abuse in general, Doherty was not on heroin or crack upon recording this album. it was after in all the publicity they were getting that he got lured into it. he wrote all the songs for it clean. and their the best songs he's written. so to say he produces all his best work while high is bullshit

i completely agree. It irritates how he is pillaried and made a scapegoat for something that is so common in the rock industry. theres others much worse. at the same time what can you say about his behaviour apart from the fact its disgraceful?

and you know all of this because you were his personal friend whilst he was making the record? just because it all went public AFTER the record, doesn't mean they weren't shooting up during the recording....and i find it hard to believe that they didn't...

i go by what ive heard from carl barat in interviews. and why would he lie? what would he gain out of that when their drug use is well documented?

Sneer 04-29-2006 12:03 PM

adidasss, you have a point about drugs playing a creative part in making music.
The Beatles being an obvious case in point.
They went from being suit wearing popsters to psychedelic pioneers all on the back of mind altering drugs.
But Doherty has obviously lost the plot big time, he's not just experimenting with drugs, they have completely taken over.
To be filmed injecting heroin into a young fans veins is unforgivable. I really don't care anymore, how much talent this man has, or how much potential he had (had being the operative word). He's lost control and I have no sympathy for him whatsoever and I certainly wouldn't describe it as tragic.

Plain and simple...the man's a twat!
He got what he deserved, as did Lennon for ending up with that living nightmare, Yoko fucking Ono.
A clear case for not doing drugs if ever I saw one.
