America produces some great music. Britain produces some great music. But atm, for some reason, it seems to be cool to knock stateside stuff. Go figure...

They're a lesser version of far better Post-Rock bands.
I enjoyed Sigur Ros a lot when I first started listening to Post-Rock, but now that I've listened to a lot more of the genre they're really nothing special.

I don`t mind experimentation but I prefer versatility and thats my main sticking point with whats coming out of the U.S.
I`d rather listen to bands who mix stuff up rather than take one or two things & experiment with them.
Just taking one band you mentioned thats recent in my mind , you mentioned Xiu Xiu. I got their last album a couple of months ago , and to be honest most of the songs sounded indentical to me.I like highs & lows & textures in my albums and what I heard just sounded flat.

I have heard a good deal of Post Rock bands, i still think they stand out the most.

And i never said The Beatles were the best, i said they were the greatest.

Weird, I probaly would have let that slide if the post was a few months old, but opinions like that typically don't change in a day. Also could you please reason as too why they're going through bad times? For reasons already listed a few times (throughout the thread), I think america is doing great now.

What have i ever done to you?... I try to be nice to you all the time, you always have to be jerk.

Im sorry for having different views on what makes a band great, and whatever you think my views are, you are probably misguided.

In fact i havent really gotten over your smartass "go listen to some scale runs" comment, that really pissed me off.

Why is it pissing you off? Did it hit close to home?

And for god's sake man, no ones being mean, you were out of control with shifting reasoning and double standards. Think Britain is better all you want, but changing what the qualifications are to better suit your argument and then getting arrogant with your replies was obnoxious.

The "Come on, names one band better than Radiohead/Beatles" replys were closed-minded retorts to a valid opinion. You can tell in the tone of the writing that you weren't going to hear of any band being better.

And I don't know what it is with you always assuming that I have an issue with you. I don't hate you because you don't like Sting or American bands, its a debate, things get ugly in here, but I don't carry them out of the thread.

Im honestly a little slighted that I have to explain this, further questions can be PMed or AIMed to me. And if anyone wants to complain about my conduct in this thread start one in the "Suggestions" forum just so we stay on topic here.

^ Unnecessary.
I've been following this thread from the beginning and found myself agreeing with most of the opinions posted, but then I would seeing as the whole thread, by default, can never be anything more than subjective.

Whether you are American or British, it can't be denied that both nations have produced some brilliant and ground breaking bands over the last 50 years and have so in a consistent and prolific manner.
I know this seems like an obvious statement, but it's obvious that some here have missed this simple point.

I for one would be gutted if some of the American bands had never happened. The influence American bands have had on British music goes without question. The influence some British bands have had on which direction popular music has taken over the years, can never be underestimated.

I believe music in general would be nothing near as good as it is now, if these two countries didn't bounce of each other in the way they have over the years.

American artistry and British imagination.
IMO.
