Take them out of the equation it's basically a tie. Sure the US may be making more good music, but they're also making a massive amount more crap compared to the UK. That and the fact that there's no difinitive local scenes in comparison to Europe and Japan makes it a pretty moot point.
In quantity yes, but that's because we're a larger and more industrial country. So that's not really fair.

I know we have a LOT of crap, but I think we have a lot of emerging talent. The British scene is just hilariously sad right now. Amy Winehouse is the UK's most critically acclaimed new artist. Seriously.

So I'd actually rather settle for our post grunge and nu metal if the Libertines and Lady Sovereign is all the brits have to offer right now.

I've not heard the new album, but unless its abnormally terrible, Lady Sovereign is pretty good. She's been called Feminem, and on that logic, shes doing better than he is right now.

His last album was abissmal.

It seems that the Brits are ruling the Hardcore scene in the 2000s... The yanks are falling behind.

Oasis and Radiohead sound basically nothing alike.

U know there's great in both countries definitely and crap in both countries too. I mean we can't really do Jazz but we kick ass at Blues Rock. Our Hip hop is virtually non existent but we excel at Prog. I used to have more bias towards British music but it's split now I think.

I still think though for such a small nation we have had some absolutely brilliant, iconic and influential music.

Comus commented on Europe too and you cannot underestimate Krautrock which was a massive influence on Electronica and then you have some absolutely subliminal music from Africa and the Caribbean.
