ALL-TIME Top 5 USA Bands vs. Top 5 British Bands

This is for all-time, not currently, not just in the 90's. I had to balance out my list based on influences as both a musician and a typically mindless listener.... (ahhhh, pretty noises)...

Britain
1. Pink Floyd
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Beatles
4. Jethro Tull
5. David Bowie

USA
1. Neil Young
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Fishbone
4. Nirvana
5. Sublime

As a listener only my list would be slightly different, but that's more or less it. So what's on your list?

UK - Beatles , Stones , Bowie , Pistols , Smiths

US - Robert Johnson , Elvis , Dylan , Hendrix , Pixies

Given what I said about roots music in the other thread I think the US is better represented by solo artists

Sublime is far from great IMO, I would say either Elvis Presly or the Pixies should be on the list.

Robert Johnson was an interesting choice. I'd have to agree. Solo performers in the states tend to be much stronger and more independant. You just don't get that sort of vibe overseas.

I'm wondering if showtime copied my list and just changed a few names or was it that similar to begin with...

Muzak, I was trying to think of bands that influence my muzak and to say that Elvis was an influence is kind of like saying that Adam and Eve influenced my birth. Also to generate responses like these. It's easy to throw out big names. It's hard to sit down and seriously think this through. Just ask showtime.... I'd be interested to see your list though and in order of importance.

Well , with no Robert Johnson there would be no Rolling Stones , no Led Zep (Just to name 2 , probably all the British guitarist of the 60s also) ,and without just those 2 bands the whole face of music would be very very different.

Oh whoops, I thought it was a universal list. Didn't mean to insult your personal list. :( I'm sorry. I thought Elvis presley was very influential though I don't really like him.
In my mind my list would be:
U.K
Dragonforce
Led Zeppelin
The Specials
Black Sabbath
Bad Manners

USA
Jimi Hendrix
Nine Inch Nails
The Pixies
???
???

Bands alone?
US: Metallica, Pearl Jam, Beach Boys, The Ramones, Lynyrd Skynrd

Brit: Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Sex Pistols

I think the Brit bands are much, much more influential. I like the US bands more though.
