I disagree

I think music these days is far more diverse than it`s ever been , Just go look back at the charts in the 60s & 70s.There was a hell of a lot of crap in there , just as much as today.

^I'm glad someone realizes that. The majority of the music that we here from past is greatly filtered because there's no reason for mediocore and piss poor songs to be remembered.

And your access to music, and how an artist could get noticed was massivly differnt than today.

If im a unique artist who labels don't think is worth the risk, I can "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" my album and get it to the masses. Good luck with that in the 70's.

Excuse me, did you just compare Yes to Journey?

I'll be waiting for you in the parking lot.

My point was that the people I'm refering to will mention these bands in the same breath while refering to their favorite bands, based on their mindless assumption that anything old is "classic."

Just because it's thirty years old doesn't mean it's great. Led Zeppelin is a great band. Def Leppard sucked, sucks, and always will suck, but hey, they were from the 80's, so they must be cool, right?

That's not entirely true, The Ramones are an old band, and most classic rock fans i know don't speak of them in a positive light, far from it... In fact, they often make comments like the following.

"Punk sucks, it requires no talent, The Ramones killed good bands like Bad Company and REO Speedwagon."

Another i remember and i quote.

"In the 70s Punk killed classic rock, prog and metal."

That's right, punk killed metal, metal has been dead throughout all of the 80s, 90s and present day.

You can't make this shit up.

And i like Def Leppard, and it has nothing to do with their time era, especialy since i hate most 80s hair metal bands, they are one of the few that i actually like.

pfff I wish someone would kill REO Speedwagon. Seriously, if anyone actually said that to me I might give them the tiger paw to the throat.
