Yes, and thanks. You're very polite and great company, and the fact we disagree on most stuff doesn't really matter! I'll vote for you at the end of the year if you like.

It's about the music...

But you still are one of the people it's easy to get on with.

Jimi Hendrix, pretty much brought a guitar revolution. He had shown how a guitar could be played. Definitely the biggest influence in guitar playing since his time.

As for favourite, Adam Jones from Tool and John Petrucci from DT.

I love Robin Trower. Hes like the bigfoot of guitar players. More people should listen to Robin, hes got such an interesting sound and is a virtuoso on the fretboard.

I can't separate best from favorite. Off the top of my head (in no particular order either):
Robert Fripp - Probably the best I've seen. One night at the Greek in Berkeley, he truly transcended the moment, as it were.
Fred Frith - Most versatile - His improvisations are amazing.
Bill Nelson - My personal guitar hero - still going strong after all these years.
Lindsey Buckingham - Underrated - an amazing picker.
Phil Manzanera - also underrated - Solid work with Roxy and listen to his work on 'Taking Tiger Mountain'!
Al Jourgenson - I don't know if Al is actually 'good' but Al can SHRED!
Dave Gregory - The XTC Chameleon.
Snakefinger - Sentimental Favorite - He made great records and was a fierce live player as well.
Cosey Fanny Tutti - Best Guitar Player who can't actually play guitar - a legitimate category. Cosey has always been able to raise a racket and her new stuff is just sublime.
