^I was just kiddin bout that.
I just usually skip over the solos on songs.
Especially if theyre long and drawn out and epic and such.
I like my music fast and uniterupted

So opposite of me... I sometimes skip right to the solos... The music I enjoy would not be the same without solos

i haven't read all of the posts, but i didn't see Frank Zappa on there. I think he's got lots of talent when it comes to guitar

Yeah Petrucci is really talented. Why don't you like Dream Theater? They're one of my favourite bands.

It's hard to say, really. I mean, when it comes to feel, one could vouch for Hendrix or Santana. Or, you can go with the best technical guitarist, and say Michael Angelo, Yngwie, or Paul Gilbert. So, when it comes to middle ground, guitarists who are both of these, I'd go with somebody like Vai or Satriani.

John Frusciante (RHCP) - this guy has hidden qualities. I agree with the person on the first page.
Joe Satriani
Jimi Hendrix
Brian May (Queen) - this guy is a great soloist

Those guys are my favourite guitarists. Honourable mentions to Mustaine, Clapton, SRV, Van Halen, Dimebag, Petrucci, Vai, Zappa, Gilmour, Michael Romeo, Hetfield and Page.

Yeah, I know what you mean. He can be good (he was good in Ayreon's 2005 album). He can be horrible as well.
