What an EVIL man he must be, allowing the PROLES and the PEASANTS to have an opportunity to experience the blues. I'm sure sophisticated types such as you and I would never give those commoners such a chance. They belong as "garbage men" and stable cleaners on our country estates. Blues is strictly only for people with an IQ of over 150, and people who make music everyone can like are no longer fit for considering as "blues purists".

not saying that, either

just saying blues in its pure form, won't really catch on in this day and age

it was in his heyday in the 50s

edit:- and, uh yeah, I'd rather listen to the blues played by a homeless man with a tincan round his neck for collecting coins, sitting in a corner playing a guitar with cheesewire strings than some millionaire in a mansion, in a chaffeur-driven Rolls Royce

To be honest, I don't care how "pure" people think it is. I just want to hear good music. And Clapton provides that for thousands of people. At the end of the day, if you offer me a choice between "millionaire" Clapton, who I genuinely love the sound of, and "pure" blues which seems to be what is "right" to listen to, I am going to go with what I honestly enjoy more, which is Clapton, B.B. King and (to a very limited extent) Led Zeppelin, who, despite being popular have provided me with more enjoyable music than whoever "pure blues" seems to come from. And yes, I would probably give the cheesewire busker some money, but I am not going to record him with my camera, rave about him to my friends and follow him around everywhere.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of seeing these type of comments... Stop with them because they just make you look condescending and unable to back up your argument.
