jimmy page also gets an honorable mention. absolutely brilliant guitarist, solo in dazed and confused (I think it was that song) where he played with a violin bow was unbelievable. If there is anyone who could be disputed as hendrix's equal, page would be it.

Also I love the guitarist from Alexisonfire. I cant remember his name right now. Some of the riffs and fills in Counterparts and Number Them are just brilliant.

To be honest. I dont have a 'favorite' guitarist although i do have a favorite basist. The basist for 'No Doubt' he has some serious talent. I dont see why he stays with them when he has that much talent.

^ ill actually 2nd you on his incredible style and technique. Only reason i have to pull away from him being my favorite is because the Chilli Peppers just aren't what they were before.

Nope they aren't. They're better. And No Doubt stays together because they have awesome chemistry. They've been a band and friends for years, he couldnt just leave.

One of my favourite guitarplayers is Nels Cline (Nels Cline, Geraldine Fibbers, Wilco)
Because he is a very various player, various styles.
He plays for the sake of the song, never too much notes.

Jimi Hendrix dude. FOr those of you who've said otherwise, I shall be biased and tell you to listen to:

Voodoo Chile
It's shorter relative Voodoo CHild [slight return]
Purple Haze
Star Spangled Banner.

... hell get all the cd's!
