There is no "Best Guitarist", all guitarist had their own style, solos, and riffs. No offense, but this is a dumb question. And now you see why companies such as "Rollingstone Magazine" go by influence, record sells, and major impacts. If they did it by skill..it would be impossible.

My Greatest Guitarist (Influences, Impact):

1. Jimi Hendrix - he created the techniques that alot of guitarists today use. If you say Eddie Van Halen is faster and so he is better, will your wrong. Jimi putted more soul into his music and speed doesn't really matter. And he is not an overrated artists, he deserves the spot. If he was still alive, Rap/R&B/Hiphop would be nothing today because he would inspire future black Americans to play Rock N' Roll or Blues. Rock would be like it was during the 60s and 70s. Just like if John Lennon was still alive this world could of been different. Scary.
