Ooh, disagree. Strange Fire is an awesome album, if nothing they did afterwards (with the exception of that stellar cover) was worthy of much praise.

I don't think The White Stripes are underrated at all... in fact I thought they were pretty highly esteemed by a good many fans of many different kinds of music...

The Byrds
The Byrds is one of the most under-rated band ever, they helped launch the whole Country/Folk rock genre of the 70's. The Byrds did a lot of cover songs by Bob Dylan, their reinterpretation of his songs are brilliant. David Crosby of CSN&Y was from the Byrds - I don't know if I should mention that because I don't know how well he is liked.

Roger McGuinn and Clarence White were two amazing guitarist, who influence other guitar players, they contribution to the developement of guitar-playing in R&R usually goes unnoticed.

I guess they're underrated anywhere but in Australia, where I am sure they are still massively overexposed... but I will give credit where its due... they wrote some really great classic rock songs which are fairly timeless. One of my favorites of their back catalogue has to be Flame Trees, which most definitely makes me think of home...

BTW, I am an ex - Adelaidean who one day wishes to return...

I wish Mudhoney got more credit.

I understand that back in the days of Grunge they were fairly big but nowadays it seems like no one (around where I live at least) knows they exist.

Agreed. What's even worse is that nobody knows who the hell Green River were...
