Haha, I think their self titled is pretty good, but Jim Morrison's pretentious lyrics bore me.

His lyrics may be pretentious but they're certainly not boring. Morrison is one of the least boring frontmen in rock music history.

His lyrics aren't that pretentious. Sometimes a little pretence can be good.

Strange how tastes differ so much but for me Morrison is the greatest frontman that ever lived. I`ve worshpped many over the years but Jim always comes out on top.

Anyway "Aladdin Sane" is one of the classic Bowie glam era albums but it has to be the Doors debut, one of the greatest debuts ever recorded.

Considering my favorite band I have nothing against pretense.

And no I don't think Morrison took himself THAT seriously as a lyricist, the guy had a sense of humor he just had a very deadpan delivery, nobody would make songs like Land Ho! and The WASP with completely serious intentions. His lyrics are full of humourous play on words and that's one of the things that made The Doors one of the most entertaining bands of the era.
