Just picked up Jimi Hendrix "Valleys Of Neptune" which is at least on a par with The Jimi Hendrix Concerts in being basically a studio document of a live band with a few obscure tunes and overdubs ... very cool |
Long Distance Calling - Avoid the light (post-rock)
http://www.insideoutshop.de/images/LDCAvoidTheLight.jpg Swallow the Sun - New Moon (death doom metal) http://www.mizzenmast.fr/wp-content/...n-New-Moon.jpg These two bands will play with Katatonia on tour so I wanted to check their music. Good. |
DEATH YELL – Morbid Rites DLP
(released by Nuclear War Now! Productions) A compilation of Chilean extreme metallers Death Yell’s sole demo ‘Vengeance From Darkness’ (originally put out in 1989) as well as a previously unreleased live recording. I've had the songs from the demo in mp3 format for quite a while now though it’s nice to finally be able to have a release with the actual thing. Musically this is a mixture of old-school black/death/thrash which though as barbaric as can be occasionally contains bits which could be described as downright melodic. Fans of very old Sepultura (Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation EP), Holocausto, Order From Chaos, Blasphemy and the like, even anyone with an interest in the foundations of extreme metal in general should enjoy this. |

My Morning Jacket - Z
Needed to see what all the hype is about. I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm looking forward to it http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...CL._SL500_.jpg Wilco - the album Needed to see what all of the hype is about. I'm thoroughly unimpressed. It's definitely a down turn from Sky Blue Sky. Admittedly it is somewhat of a return to the AM and Jeff Tweedy's Uncle Tupelo days, but I see it as an abrupt break in a progression that was leading them toward a new and brilliant sound. http://bolsteryourholster.files.word...mb-450x450.jpg Joe Purdy -Julie Blue Folkish Singer/songwriter form Arkansas. Natalie Merchant - Motherland http://slog.thestranger.com/files/20...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg A few descriptions on wikipedia and varying blogs aside, I have no idea what this'll sound like. I just heard David Bowie namedrop this album in an interview, had never heard of it before, so thought I may as well check it out. Texas - Greatest Hits http://farm1.static.flickr.com/37/74...499759.jpg?v=0 My girlfriend wanted me to download this for her and, frankly the sooner she takes it off my hands the better. |
