^ Love that SDRE, and need to get that Melvins soon. PNW represent!
Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quartet - Sepulcros De Miel http://bandcamp.com/files/35/97/3597274521-1.jpg It is available for free (or rather, name your price) here. I haven't heard his last few, as he puts out too much stuff and it's hard to keep up, plus they can be pretty wanky. One reviewer on RYM says, "Very reminiscent of early The Mars Volta albums. Highly recommended for fans of De-Loused in the Comatorium, Frances the Mute, or psychedelic music in general." That's enough for me. |

it gets a lot less experimental as the years go on. his newer stuff is really quite good judging from the little i've been able to check out since yesterday. more melodic, more modern...
so far though, my favorite has to be Body Love, an ambient porno soundtrack from 1977. now if i could only track down the actual video... :D |

LISA HANNIGAN - SEA SEW (2008) Vocalist from Damien Rice's records first full length debut album. http://www.island50.com/assets/image...JohnMartyn.jpg JOHN MARTYN - SOLID AIR (1973) Because its about time i listened to more than just his first two records. http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cdcove...AXON_TVBOS.JPG SAXON - THE VERY BEST OF SAXON 1979 - 1988 (2007) Because they are playing Download and im not quite sure if i want to watch them yet. I know some Saxon stuff but when it came to starting to grab certain albums I didn't have a clue so went for this for starters. http://hangout.altsounds.com/geek/ga...-low-rehhs.jpg DEFTONES - DIAMOND EYES (2010) I wanted to hear this one anyway but they are also playing Download so wanted to give it a spin beforehand. |

Yes, it's getting hard to listen Hard for us to use our eyes 'Cause all around the gold is glistening Making sure it keeps us hypnotised As for Saxon, they're a bit dated and cheesy but if you don't mind that and you like NWOBHM then Wheels of Steel will be right up your alley. I still need to hear the new Deftones. |
Yeah im pretty sure i know what to expect from Saxon. Maybe nothing id fall in love with but they could be fun live. I dont think i would pay to go a gig of theirs so if theres no other band on at the same time that i really wanna see then ill probably use that opportunity to check them out. I would like to have heard a little more before i do that. If i like the compilation, i might well check out that album.
And as far as John Martyn goes, i started at the beginning. I usually do. I never got past the first two albums. |

I just gave it a listen. I dont like to judge albums upon their first spin but I enjoyed it. Presumably it can be classed, above all else, as a folk record but it was quite poppy in places too. It was a pleasant enough album to listen to for sure.
