Surprisingly decent from a band that last released an album 17 years ago. |

Zola Jesus - Conatus (2011) The follow-up to Stridulum II and I like it very much. The songs seem more memorable and the album flows better as a whole. Probably not one of the best albums of the year but it seems like a bit of an progression for her and still retains the dark atmospherics and soaring vocals that made Stridulum II enjoyable. http://img.noiset.com/images/album/r...art-51735.jpeg Röyksopp - Melody A.M. (2001) Found a used CD of this for only €2 and I'd been meaning to get it for a while. I already had The Understanding, which isn't really a great album, but this is far, far better. I recognised some of the songs immediately when I heard them, i.e. 'So Easy', 'Eple' and 'Poor Leno', but overall a fabulous electronic album and will become a staple of my music collection. |

I'm excited to see what this sounds like. EDIT: it's gregor samsa - 55:12 "The current members are Champ Bennett, Nikki King, Billy Bennett, Jeremiah Klinger, Cory Bise, Toby Driver and Mia Matsumiya." NO WAY I HAD NO CLUE ABOUT THIS |
I just got Blackout by Britney Spears, Cross by Justice, and Homework by Daft Punk. Daft Punk are growing on me.

Jacques Loussier—Pulsion (1979) I've been checking out some third stream stuff lately and that lead me to Loussier. The one other album of his that I downloaded didn't really do it for me but I dig this one quite a bit. It's just drums and piano, both played in a very minimalistic yet groovy way, and though I think some of the songs might have benefitted from some bass, it's still a terrific album. The biggest surprise though was the title track, which was obviously the inspiration for the Eminem song "Kill You": |
^ Is that a drum machine? It is pretty groovy, but the drums are too stale, too polished, and as a result it sounds rather vacuous. Maybe it's just the title track, but I feel like he would have greatly benefited from the company of a jazz drummer.
