just put it on |
Ahh, thought you heard it then bought it. Let me know if you liked it. I found it extremely boring by the end, but it does have it's moments.

but I don't think there's much of replay value most of the songs sound too "radio-friendly" and that song hardly sounds like "Stairway", IMHO |

Phallus Dei, A Day In The Life Of Brian Wilson. Atmospheric experimental psychedustrial. That's the pretentious genre I'm going to put on this album. Whatever it is, it's great stuff. Thanks Bob! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_mz_BMfXNKA...hing+Cover.jpg It's hard to tell from that tiny picture I found, but that is The Old New Thing, a free jazz anthology selected by Wu Ming I, an author and founder of the Wu Ming Foundation, a writer collective. He's mixed in clips from speeches and songs in the Civil Rights movement, and clipped the songs so that they merge almost seamlessly into one another. I am really freaking excited about this. A double LP that comes with a booklet that details the history of free jazz, along with several photos. All for $8.00. Hoorah. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...n_broadway.jpg Found this box set used, also for $8.00. Thought to myself, "Damn, that's on awesome deal. Yoink!" Just now realized that it's a three disk set, not a two disk set. I only have the first two. Damn. Oh well. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/albu...42/3704668.jpg Sex Pistols, All The Hits. This is just a generic compilation disk of... The Sex Pistols. Shocking, I know. According to the internet, it's Dutch. There's a version of Search And Destroy on here by Sid Vicious. That's all I can say about it, really. Don't usually buy "best of" CDs like this one, but it was only four bucks, and was unopened. |
As promised to Bob.
http://www.roadburn.com/wp-content/u...s-The-Seer.jpg Swans - The Seer Thought it started off a bit slow, and maybe found Lunacy leaning towards tackiness, thought it was a little patchy until the title track, which was an easy sell to me, and it improved by loads after that. Disc 2 is pure ****ing gold. I'm not great with double albums. I usually find them patchy, unnecessarily long, and full of filler, but I'm pleased with this. I am really surprised though, by how fast it's shot into the top 1000 on RYM. I wouldn't personally call it an instant classic, but it's got a lot of greatness to it. |
As much as I love this record, I was always a little disappointed by the flat production, but I grew accustomed to it over time. I always heard they had an American mix in the can somewhere, and was always curious to hear the difference. Well, here it is. I wish the didn't release it as an expensive double cd, but it's worth it. The production is much fuller, and a lot livelier.
