I wouldn't call it metal at all actually

This is probably my favorite Aphex album and will remain so unless he releases something even more mind****ing. I used to really not care for this album, but the piano pieces (a la John Cage) explore simple melodies and expand on Cage's concept almost flawlessly. The more electronically oriented tracks are absolutely bonkers, and they kept my interest at first until more experimental pieces finally set in. The sheer amount of variety on this album was pretty exhausting at first, but it's now become one of the reasons I adore it so much.

I never cared for the album's sequencing but it's definitely some of his best material at this point. When it came out, I still preferred Richard D. James Album.

HATEBEAK "Number of The Beak"

Hailing from my hometown, African Grey Parrot Metal. I got a shirt and a clear vinyl copy, and I can't wait to get them both in the mail.

edit: No, I won't find a smaller image. If I could get this any larger I totally would.

The thing is, I feel that most of his albums aren't really made with the thought of it being an actual album. He's said several times that he takes the best tracks from a certain era or period and compiles them into an album. He'll work with a certain setup and then after it changes it gets released or he stashes it all away and works with a new sound. I just think with Drukqs he was not only into making more complicated tracks put together with different types of software, he was also into experimenting with a midi piano. They don't really mesh well, but came from the same period hence the whiplash throughout the album.

This seems to go by unnoticed, but this records pretty riot grrrl. They cover The Beatles, Ramones, Nirvana. Fun stuff

Severed Heads - Since the Accident (1983)
Severed Heads - City Slab Horror (1985)
Last month, some colleagues approached me about going to see Severed Heads in September. Which lead me to the realization that I'd never taken the time to listen to them, despite my massive interest in Industrial music in the early to late 90s. After checking out a few songs and samples I downloaded these two albums. It was mid June when I listened to them and I haven't yet returned to them, but I did enjoy quite a bit of it, mostly City Slab Horror. Even if I don't go to the show (which I should), I've at least finally listened and will eventually listen to more.

Disco Inferno - D. I. Go Pop (1994)
This was recommended to me a couple of years ago and I just got around to it after seeing another mention of it somewhere. Not really sure what I think of it after that first listen. Not impressed with it enough to hurry back to it.

Downtown Boys - Full Communism (2015)
Female-fronted political/hardcore punk with some sax. Overall fun and relatively melodic from what I remember, but I gave it 3/5 stars as it's really not my thing and I don't need to listen to it again.

Grooms - Comb the Feelings Through Your Hair (2015)
Female-fronted indie rock with some neo-psych. Not too impressed on first listen but would likely improve with subsequent listens. If I happen to return to it someday.

Moon Duo - Shadow of the Sun (2015)
Pretty cool psychedelic rock, I liked their last one Circles as well. Didn't blow me away but it has some great sounds and I'll keep it in rotation.

Ex Models - Chrome Panthers (2005)
I discovered this band and their debut Other Mathematics in June, falling in love instantly. Then I listened to their follow-up Zoo Psychology and thought it sucked. I thought well that's it, guess they only made one good album. Still, I decided I should give their third one a spin just to see. Turns out I enjoy it more than Zoo Psychology, but it's still not even close to Other Mathematics. Album #2 is pretty much spazz rock and this one slows it down with longer songs and more repetition. Kid Millions from Oneida plays on this one.

Tense Men - Where Dull Care Is Forgotten [EP] (2014)
Post-punk/noise-ish rock from members of Cold Pumas and Sauna Youth.

Mesmerized by Seirom

ahhhhhh new Seirom and im in love. probably my favorite Gnaw Their Tongues alias and this is just gorgeous. seems like hes getting less and less dense with each Seirom release but I love it nonetheless.

Cayucas - Dancing at the Blue Lagoon (2015)
Highly anticipated but a letdown so far compared to their debut, Bigfoot.

Sauna Youth - Dreamlands (2012)
This one starts out with a 10-minute track that is a lot of spoken word, but interesting, and then goes into their shorter indie pop/punk style that reminds me of The Thermals.

Male Bonding - Nothing Hurts (2010)
I heard a few thoughts I thought were pretty good so I played the album, but wasn't impressed overall. Perhaps I need to try again.

Wavves x Cloud Nothings - No Life for Me (2015)
I've listened to Cloud Nothings' two most recent albums but never got into them, mainly due to the vocals. But I really liked Wavves' last album, so I was really looking forward to this. On my initial listen I was completely underwhelmed with this album. My second listen revealed a few redeeming qualities in some of the songs, but I still feel it's a dud overall.

Failure - The Heart Is a Monster (2015)
First listened on Monday and listening for the second time now. Very impressed on the first listen, considering this is coming 19 years after their last. It almost sounds like they never stopped making music. Tight as ever and does not lack the soul that many bands' reunion albums lack.

Jaill - Brain Cream (2015)
I learned about Jaill with their 2010 album That's How We Burn, which I was obsessed with its catchy indie pop for a while. Traps came out in 2012 with a slightly more serious, less pop, and less catchy sound - a disappointment to critics but something I still enjoyed even if not to the same extent. So I didn't know what to expect from the new one, especially with the ice cream cover art. What we have is something that feels more raw than the last two, with the energy of That's How We Burn (or earlier material) without being as pop. At least that's my impression so far after two listens. I like it.

Billy Woods - Today, I Wrote Nothing (2015)
This guy's been on my radar for a few years but this is the first time I've played an album start to finish. I liked it, very Def Jux-style hip-hop.

http://rymimg.com/lk/f/l/235c9ac4a30...53/5679817.jpg

Refused - Freedom (2015)
I've read a lot of negative comments about this on various forums and while skimming reviews, but decided to dive in anyway. I was expecting some really wretched stuff based on that, but it wasn't nearly that bad. It didn't do much for me on the first listen, but I'm not going to **** on it. I think it's got some cool tracks.

Meat Beat Manifesto - Kasm02 [EP] (2015)
New EP from Jack Dangers, part of a Skam Records sub-label collection. Probably the best MBM stuff to come out in a while. Of course, anything's easier to appreciate in smaller doses.

The Holydrug Couple - Moonlust (2015)
I learned of the Chilean band in 2013 with their album Notuary, which I thought was similar to Tame Impala with less-slick production. It was a good album. I spun this yesterday and was quite unimpressed with it.
