I see what you're saying about the mysterious figures advancing from left to right, but otherwise they're fairly different. The Father Creeper cover has a verdant landscape with something engulfed in flame, reflected in a high-rise which I see as some kind of commentary about traditional versus modern life in South Africa (where Spoek Mathambo is from) whereas the Dopesmoker re-release cover has a desert sci-fi vibe and makes me think of the Weedians and maybe a little of Dune.

It's obvious that the mysterious figures advancing from left to right are what make it strikingly similar, but even the desert is prominent in the Mathambo record. Suffice to say both records sound absolutely nothing alike.
