My latest enthusiasm probably sounds dated too: Boz Scagg`s self-titled album from 1969 has the singer and Duane Allman producing a top quality blend of blues rock and Americana. Thanks to Rostasi and Necromancer for this one. |

Amebix - Arise (1985) A very enjoyable crust punk album. It almost seems like the soundtrack to some sort of gritty, ugly post-apocalyptic world, where lawlessness is rife and the new government that has assumed power can't be trusted. http://666daysofmetal.com/wp-content...th-Angel-2.jpg Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence (1987) A solid Bay Area thrash metal album. For some reason I like my thrash with a distinct American rasp and this ticks the box nicely. It's cleanly produced while still capturing all the raw energy of the band. Still trying to get my head around the fact that their drummer was only 14 when this was recorded, fucking nuts. |

The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle - Bruce Springsteen
I was bummed that I couldn't get a ticket to the Springsteen concert a couple of weeks ago at which they played this album in it's entirety, so I bought the CD but haven't listened to it yet. I'll have to wait until the post-sold-out-concert-I-couldn't-go-to blues have passed. |
The latest album by Sharon Jones & the Daptones, Give The People What They Want. Nice original sounding soul sounds

Kiss Me Once by Kylie Minogue. Not as basic as I expected, might be above Aphrodite. |
La Dispute - Rooms Of The House
http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/as/...-the-house.jpg It seems like people either really love this band or really hate this band, I lean more towards the really love side, so I had to get this. |

Thou - Heathen (2014) This is apparently some Sludge/Doom Metal goodness. Listening to it later. |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...gTheChapel.jpg Slayer is kind of sort of growing on me...as is thrash metal in general. Of the four songs on the EP, Haunting the Chapel is easily my favorite, though the other tracks are still pretty good. Quote:

El Chicano - Viva Tirado (1970) Another band with a Santana influence, mixing soul, jazz, salsa, rock and funk. This is their first album, released on Kapp records, giving them their gold record hit with the title track "Viva Tirado." El Chicano - Viva Tirado - YouTube |

BTW what did you think of CBTS? |

Edit: So I checked it out and I loved it for the most part, It was definitely more grime than I was expecting. I thought he usually does UK Hip Hop or maybe I was making that assumption off of his album before this one. Brainless , Dosein It and We Control This are the top tunes on that album for me. |
for this weeks listening pleasure
http://f0.bcbits.com/img/a1752063959_10.jpg Pretty Please - Father read a review of this band live.....started with "they opened for Whores."....five bucks and three minutes later and i'm enjoying some great post hardcore noise rock.....with even a couple of very well place harmonics.....seems to me that Atlanta may be the new Minneapolis when it comes to the noise rock scene https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images.../0XfLigal.jpeg TacocaT - NVM when Charlemagne (who has some of the best taste on this website :) ) posted this a week or so ago....i flipped out.....i watched this band rise up through the underground music scene of Seattle and can honestly say....they are by far one of the most fun live bands i have ever seen....awesome to see them getting a bit of exposure out of the Seattle area....seriously if you can relax and just sit back and enjoy super fun music with often hilarious and ridiculous lyrics....check out TacocaT....also being a bob....i can appreciate any band whose name is a palindrome :) http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/as/...vis-points.jpg Alarms & Controls - Clovis Points well played kind of post hardcore/math rock.....very reminiscent of the 2000s era Dischord releases.....maybe thats why they're signed to Dischord :) |

Glad you like it anyway mate, you will probably like his new one based off those choices. Best tracks for me on CBTS were the Intro, Brainless, Salute Me and We're Moving Along. |

What the hell have all you prog fans been doing for the last 10 years here? Apparently not one of you has ever mentioned this album before in the history of the forum. I don't know why because it's far better than most of the crap you've been recommending all these years. It also has name people involved (e.g. People from Colosseum & John Wetton). It's an amazing mix of Prog, Psych, Funk, Proto Metal and rocks like a bastard with a ton of horns for good measure. And you'd rather tell us to listen to Genesis or Yes? F*ck you musicbanter prog fans. :) |

Just heard Opposites by Biffy Clyro recently. It was okay. I liked the mellow riffs somewhere, but otherwise I thought it was pretty bland. |
I'm not pinning it on Trollheart, there have been many before him who could have.

Tigers Jaw - S/T A catchy and charming fourth wave emo album, which is more on the pop punk side than the common "twinkly" math rock side. Also, the vocals are terrible, which is definitely a plus. |
Mastermind, Isolation by I/O and Priscilla by JMSN.

Pharrell Williams—GIRL (2014) Seems like some pretty great driving around with the windows down on a sunny day music so far, which is exactly what I was doing earlier. |
Good to know it doesn't completely suck. I am going to listen to that tomorrow. Really like "Happy" despite having heard it probably 300 times due to work.
