Skankin' Pickle- Skankin' Pickle Fever.
Very silly/weird ska punk band. I like the funk influences that they have at times. |

Vindensång - Terminus: Rebirth in Eight Parts... (2008) What is this? Is it dark ambient? Black metal? Drone? Neo-folk? I have no idea but the kinda shoddy (intentionally) production, the bleakness, and at times what seems like almost the blurring of vocal and instrumental tracks together results in a gloomy, atmospheric, brilliant record. |

http://www.ska-p.com/sites/default/f...jpg?1362597405 I don't really like this album, except for maybe the instrumental opening track :/. |
Just going to check out these over the next few days.

Elastic Band - Expansions on Life (1969) Electric blues based psych/prog rock from Elastic Band. The songs are varied in style, sounding a bit like The Amboy Dukes one minute and early Jethro Tull the next with a bit of The Mothers of Invention and Procol Harum thrown into the mix. Interesting enough to stand up to repeated listens. |

Broken Love Letter - K-the-i??? http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/...ynesthesia.jpg Synesthesia - K-the-i??? Both excellent albums. Creative as hell and the way experimental hip-hop should be. It's been a while since I've found hip-hop that has blown me away. This guy is the man. |

The Dukes of Stratosphear - 25 O'Clock (1985) Took this out of my vinyl collection for a spin. It's XTC using the pseudonym "The Dukes of Stratosphear" to pay homage to 1960's psychedelic rock & pop. Groovy! |

Beck - Morning Phase Pleasantly boring. Best way to describe it really. |
Last one was Hypermagic Mountain of Lightning Bolt.
Got Captain Caveman riff in mind since two days. Awesome brutal noise rock. |
The Black Heart Rebellion - Har Nevo, if you like post-rock/experimental stuff, this is worth listening to.

The Hotelier - Home, Like NoPlace is There
http://cdn2.pitchfork.com/albums/201...e.fcf0d979.jpg The fact that this album has been so well received makes me even more excited to listen to it than I already was. mewithoutYou - Catch For Us The Foxes http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4A_UdDARjm...-the-foxes.jpg Inspired both by The World Is A Beautiful Place's (or apparently WR now) upcoming EP and my love for Listener, I've decided to finally try out this band. I decided this would be a good place to start after a bit of research. |

Wild Beasts - Present Tense (2014) These guys manage to be so remarkably consistent despite evolving from album to album. It would be too early to determine whether this is their best work yet but it's right up there with their previous two albums Two Dancers and Smother. It has more electronic elements than their previous output and manages to be a very enjoyable listen. http://kunst-kultur.germanblogs.de/w...on-300x300.jpg Sun Kil Moon - Benji (2014) First of all, this album really does deserve all the praise it's getting. It really is that good. The album almost plays like the story of Mark Kozelek's life, telling us about childhood memories and the deaths of relatives and friends. It strikes me as the most painfully honest and soul-bearing album that he has written and his delivery and songwriting here makes you give all your attention to the stories he's telling you through his songs. This album is definitely up there with the best of Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters material. http://sirensofsong.com/blog/wp-cont...er-300x300.jpg Phantogram - Voices (2014) I enjoyed Eyelid Movies so naturally enough I was looking forward to this. This album has some killer tracks, unfortunately it also has some very mediocre ones too. The album is okay overall despite being a mixed bag, but when it's good it offers some solid electronica. http://austintownhall.com/wp-content...polarispop.jpg Polaris - Music From the Adventures of Pete & Pete (1999) I only have vague memories of the 90's TV show Pete & Pete, so I decided to listen to this mainly for the music. Polaris were a once-off band put together to provide songs for the show's soundtrack but they were actually damn good one too. There's a bit of an early-R.E.M. college rock vibe to this collection of songs, and they're the type of songs that will stick in your head for a few days. It's probably something I'll get sick off after a while but I'm going to enjoy it for what it is. |

Demon Fuzz - Afreaka! (1970) Hadn't heard this in a while, so I gave it a spin. A great mix of soul/funk/jazz/rock, and a fine bluesy cover of "I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. |
Downloading an album called MF Dope which I initially thought was a set of tracks with DOOM going over Aesop production. Doesn't seem to be though. More of a compilation.

Drive-By Truckers - English Oceans (2014) While it's been awhile since they've released anything I would consider to be amazing, they have been pretty consistent with their releases. I've heard some mixed things about this album, but I think people just need to get over the fact that they'll never release another Southern Rock Opera (2001). |

Nadja - Queller these two really have a great formula and i'm happy they don't really deviate from it.....the four tracks on this album are a bit short for this band....but still are perfect journeys of slow, dark, despondent, fuzzed out, warm Dilaudid binges http://apochs.net/2/wp-content/uploa...BloodEagle.jpg Conan - Blood Eagle when it comes to good sludgy doom.....there is no one better at this site than Mojo....he suggested this band a year or so ago....and i fell in love with them.....i may need a few more listens to this....but i can guarantee that this album will be within the top five of the year for me....for what this is....it is perfect |

Harvey Mandel - The Snake (1972) Top-notch instrumental blues based rock with some jazz leanings from guitarist Harvey Mandel, one of the first rock guitarists to use two-handed fretboard tapping. He played with Canned Heat, Charlie Musselwhite, John Mayall, before going into a solo career. When Mick Taylor left The Rolling Stones, Mandel was auditioned as his replacement. He didn't get the job, but he did record two tracks with the Stones for their 1976 album Black and Blue, "Hot Stuff" and "Memory Motel." |
Just a couple new pickups for the next few days.
Tacocat - NVM http://images4.hhv.de/catalog/shop_d...352/352627.jpg Looking forward to hearing this one, I expect it to be as bubblegum as the album artwork, but still witty and great. Nai Harvest - Hold Open My Head http://newnoisemagazine.com/wp-conte...Head-cover.jpg Apparently it's pretty popular to take influence from the 90s grunge and emo bands again. I like these guys though, cool British emo. Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/as/...where-else.jpg I was a big fan of Attack On Memory so I'm definitely looking forward to this one. |

A Sucked Orange - Nurse With Wound I don't think I've come across an experimental album with over 20 short tracks that chops and changes randomly as this does. I really don't know what to make of it, it seems messy, but that's part of the appeal in a way. Not as good as Homotopy To Marie but erm.. yeah. Weird is still good. ...? |
I am loving this album:

Alt-J - An Awesome Wave

Imagine Dragons album - it is really good. I wasn't expecting much from it but I am pleasantly surprised!

Chango - Chango (1975) Latin jazz/rock heavily influenced by late 60's/early 70's Santana. A solid album from beginning to end, worth a listen for fans of the genre and/or anyone who enjoys that classic Santana sound. |
