Yeah, I read that bit.

For one, bands make money off concerts i'll support them in that sense. I don't see why artists would have a problem with people downloading their music, I don't know gets the band way more exposure. You make it sound like if the band doesn't sell CDs they're going to go broke.

Also, panic can't write lyrics? Explain half the stuff you listen to then. They're one of the better bands lyrically on MTV. And as for not working hard, getting signed isn't always a matter of working hard. They used the internet to their advantage and it worked for them. Besides, you shouldn't bash bands for all sounding alike, you listen to blue october.

EDIT: I mean cmon

"You made me compliment myself when it was way too hard to take so I’ll drive so ****ing far away that I never cross your mind and do whatever it takes in your heart to leave me behind hate me today hate me tomorrow hate me for all the things I didn’t do for you"

Angsty crap, while panic! make pretty pretty lyrics that I actually like.

"Start talking "a sensationalist" Oh, he's slightly clever to just a certain extent
if you talk, you better walk you better keep your mouth shut with more than good hooks while you're all under the gun Panic! meet the press it's time for us to take a chance well we're just a wet dream for the webzines make us it make us hip make us scene or shrug us off your shoulders don't approve a single word we wrote"

"blah chimes in with, 'haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamned door?', enough said on that matter. I've only heard two songs by Blue October, and over 50% of a bands revenue comes from album sales. Plus the record company looks at how much they sell, and that decides alot on how much the company favors them. Example:

Cold 1995/'96-2006

Recently released the last album, "A Different Kind Of Pain".
Scooter Ward the vocalist, posted a personal message on his site.
The message stated that Cold was, "bowing out, rather than being forced to",
and this was due to the record not meating expectations. So since they didn't get enough sales on that album, the band is no more.

Also, while the band tours there is expenses like, gas, food, hotels, etc etc.
If you like a band, buy the album.

You quote one line and don't explain what sucks about it, quoting a line is the worst way to prove a band has poor lyrics. Because quoting a line from any song by itself is pretty weak. And I could use other bands you listen to as an example, Seether, KoRn, Disturbed etc..

And its news to me that a band pays for the whole tour out of their own pocket.

And yeah, download always has a completely negative effect on bands, look at the arctic monkeys.

if you like the band, buy the music.

i fully support this statement. the beleif that people are still willing to support the music scene is why i own a record label. If people dont buy the CDs we put out... the bands WONT be able to afford to continue and we wont be able to afford to help them get their music heard.

the bands we release NEED record sales to cover the cost of recording, we need record sales to cover the cost of production. having to pile in your own money so that people can listen to your music is wrong surely? but thats what most small bands have to do.

the idea that bands make more money from touring is bull****. bands dont make money off tours until they can reach a certain level. most of the bands i see only get paid petrol money. and things like t-shirts have a much higher cost per unit and therefore are an even bigger risk than CDs.

im all for downloading, as long as you buy CDs too.
