Last album you bought, downloaded or listened to

10,000 Maniacs was actually a pretty good alternative rock band back in the late 80s/early 90s. Their album "In My Tribe" is very good. As I understand it, the majority of 10,000 Maniacs' music was more upbeat than Natalie's solo work.

Nice songs those. In My Tribe eh. I've got a long, booze-free weekend ahead of me, so I'll get hold it soon. She's got a great voice by the sound of it too. If I remember correctly, the context Bowie mentioned Motherland in was when he was talking about how his own Heathen, despite being recorded before that date, could be seen as a sort of gloomy, post-9/11 atmosphere commentary in places, like he said he thought Motherland was. Definitely got my curiosity going in any case.

Agreed. Their version of Everyday is Like Sunday is a revelation.

Aksak Maboul - Un peu de l'âme des bandits

Some Belgian avant-prog/RIO album I just found out about. Not exactly the kind of stuff I usually go for often, but the samples sounded interesting. It's from 1980.

Silver Jews - American Water

I'm about halfway through the album and it's a little underwhelming, but I thought so about Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and yet I still loved it, so perhaps this album falls under the same category.

A Hundred Times Beloved - Antarctic Sunrise

Amiestreet.com recommended me this and after going through the minute samples I concluded that it was something I wanted to listen to further. As I'm feeling charitable today, I even *gasp* bought it!

Yo La Tengo-I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
Got Sugarcube and it's awesome video stuck in my head constantly. So awesome is this video I feel compelled to impose it upon MB members.

Yes! I love Yo La Tengo...that album is definitely the best place to start, but have you heard Painful, And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out, and I Am Not Afraid Of You and I Will Beat Your Ass? All great albums...these guys are really unique once you delve into their stuff.
