Music conferences, which are touted as workshops, seminars, symposiums, summits and/or festivals are music events lasting from a day, to several days, to even a week long. The better conferences are meet and greets between music artists and music industry professionals- you are rubbing elbows with journalists, radio promoters, booking agents, A&R reps, magazine publishers and other music contacts you may need to know to further your musical career.
There are usually educational discussions and day time panels that cover a variety of subjects. You may get tips and advice on a variety of topics that concern you, the artist, as well as what's new and changing in the music industry. Invaluable information is shared, even question and answer sessions and one-on-one sessions. Vendors may have tables set up with displays, information, and people to talk to on all manor of musical interests, products and services. The evenings may have a complete roster of talent at various nearby venues, or might include after parties for further smoozing. There is usually some kind of fee to attend the variety of conferences that are available nationwide (and internationally), and also you need to consider food and lodging. Goodie bags of promotional items may be available. Hope that helps... |
